We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacqulyn Currey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jacqulyn, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I opened Clarity Skin Lounge in August of 2023 with one goal in mind; Helping people to feel confident, comfortable and beautiful in their own skin. I can’t tell you how many times a client has come to me with an overwhelmed idea about aesthetic treatments. Confusion about which products and treatments do what; If one thing will work better for their desired outcome than another. After 6 years in the Medical Aesthetic industry, I saw where communication between clients and providers lacked. This experience gave me a clear vision into the brand and business development I hoped to offer as a business owner. To be frank, I got tired of an overwhelming industry… Clarity came to fruition with those things in mind. It’s an opportunity to provide education and effective, best-in-class medical aesthetic treatments to every person who walks through the door. My hope is for my clients to understand their skin, to relax in their treatment environment and leave with the confidence that our services will be money well spent. This mindset has allowed me to gain the trust of those I work with everyday towards reaching their skin health goals.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Clarity Skin Lounge is an organic, ever-evolving idea. In an industry growing rapidly each year, we offer a catered and educated resource for people to receive and learn about the best treatments on the market. It’s a place where effective, medical grade skincare blends with the comfort and relaxation of a day spa. Opening Clarity took a massive leap of faith. I had relied so heavily on a medical office atmosphere for all of my career. Walking away from that environment was scary because it was my comfort place. In my experience though, I’ve found the best things in life usually come from stepping outside of your comfort zone. As with most business owners, in the first year there are waves of happiness and stress. The weight of failure continues to linger in the back of my mind. However, I just have to keep pushing forward and stay true to my vision. I can genuinely say that clientele will gravitate towards you and stay with you when you are honest and realistic in the goals you place before them. Providers can make a lot of promises, but the proof is in how you make a client feel. I believe that authenticity is what continues to help my grow my business.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When people visit Arizona, I always take them on a day trip up north to Sedona. It’s such a beautiful place with so much art and history! Check out The Hideaway House for lunch on the patio and walking around Tlaquepaque. Here in the valley, I love restaurants and dining out with friends. Some of my favorite local places are Tonto Bar & Grill in Cave Creek, especially in the Spring. Maple & Ash is another favorite for a night out in a sexy environment. When I’m looking for a casual lunch, one of my go-to’s is Char in the northwest valley and La Grande Orange at Biltmore. My favorite’s for day drinks are AZ88 & The Living Room wine bar at DC Ranch. I love sharing local history with friends too like a drive past the castle on Camelback mountain and street art in downtown Phoenix. Afternoon shopping in good weather around Old Town is another must-do. Also, you can’t visit Phoenix without heading to the dirt to ride side-by-sides!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to give a shoutout to one of my Educators throughout my schooling, Cristina Hughes. She encouraged, educated and drove me to reach for my highest goals (even if she doesn’t realize it!). I saw the passion she exhibited through every treatment. I absorbed every bit of experience she shared with us in and outside of the treatment room. I truly believe that I had an upper hand starting my career because I was blessed with such a great educator in my path.
