Meet Jalpa Pandit | Jewelry Designer, Gemologist, Private Jeweler

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jalpa Pandit and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jalpa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

I am a Jewelry Designer & Gemologist trained at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) with over 25 years of experience in the jewelry industry.

After several years of corporate exposure, I realized that my passion was taking my unloved jewelry pieces that were collecting dust at the back of my jewelry box and breathing new life into them.
Soon, my friends and family were asking me to transform their pieces into wearable designs…and before you know it my business “niche” was born!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

As a certified Gemologist and Award-Winning Jewelry Designer, I am on a mission to make women fall in love with their legacy and unloved jewelry again! It is my passion to take unworn pieces and transform them into modern heirlooms.

I take pride in the fact that all of my bespoke designs are made only in the USA and am passionate about supporting women-owned enterprises who share my commitment to quality and exceptional workmanship.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

For over two decades, I have been a jersey-girl and I would love to show my best friend the hidden gems. Lincoln Harbor, a beautiful area of Weehawken, sitting on the banks of the Hudson with post card views of the mid-town Manhattan sky-line. The photo-ops here are insta-worthy enough to make an influencer blush! Hoboken would be next, the birth place of Frank Sinatra and the best mutz in town at Vito’s Deli. With lots of little stores, cafes and restaurants to explore. My favorite “find” is the Aussie inspired Boomerang bites for the most incredible goodies that hit the spot any time of the day!

Summit, my hometown is a hidden gem with a sweet little downtown with so much to offer. A stroll into the cutest store Tea & Oranges or some wine shopping with the experts at Cambridge wine, before heading off to the Short Hills Mall for some luxe shopping.

Next would be the Watchung Reservation for an adventurous hike or a picnic with some great trails for hiking, walking, and birding and more.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The Co-Co!

When I was in the process of setting up my business (very shortly before COVID) I found that it was a very lonely existence…until the time I found “The Co-Co” in Summit, NJ.

This amazing community of women has created a platform that connected me to other like-minded women and has always encouraged me to persevere and grow.
