We had the good fortune of connecting with James Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi James, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I’ve been a life long sports fan and always found that I enjoyed the banter and conversations about different sports. With the rise of “Everyone” having a podcast so I decided to try for myself in 2019. I Started in my garage doing NFL weekly breakdowns with all the audio tech I bought on Amazon. When Covid shut the world down it was then I decided to see how far I can take this.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Anytime a business or venture starts in a garage it doesn’t always make it out of the garage. After doing 50 shows or so on YouTube we decided to reach out to a local sports radio station(KDUS1060am) to see if they would be interested in our show. From there we agreed on a weekly show Monday nights at 7pm covering the weekends NFL games. Since then we have become credentialed media for the Phoenix Suns, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Arizona State Football. You have to believe in yourself and be willing to take chances… oh and never stop asking. I never stop chasing, never stop dreaming.
The James Out West brand is one that is sincere, positive, and sports fans that became media. We want to take the everyday person on a journey to show them behind the curtain from a fan’s perspective.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start in downtown Gilbert and grab some drinks before dinner at either The Keg or at North Italia. Definitely going to go to Sedona and spend some time at Oak Creek (crystal clear water running down from slide rock) and grab a bite at the Indian village or at Elote. Coming back from there we would prob go to talking stick resort for some gaming at the casino or depending on time of year the Sportsbook at The Footprint Center in Downtown Phoenix.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many that support this journey of mine. My wife Theresa, parents, friends and so many others. We lost my co host Ryan Rooks in Feb suddenly and my Bother-in-law stepped up to help me get back on the horse (thanks Pat). CJ Rooks (Ryan’s wife)who was the support system for Ryan always tunes in and I wanted to that her for that. This truly has been a dream
