We had the good fortune of connecting with Jay Hagen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jay, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting this business was an obvious choice. We have been servicing the disc golf community for roughly 5 years. 2 years ago is when we filed for an LLC. Almost 1 year ago was the grand opening of our retail store. We were fortunate enough to find a niche market to move into with enough support to survive.

What should our readers know about your business?
We are evolving into more than just a local retail store. We are working with several different entities to spread awareness and grow the sport of disc golf. Anything from running local events, donating equipment to schools, installing courses to teaching new players. We keep ourselves busy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you only get a week in Phoenix the must eat at restaurants; Popos, Krua Thai, Takamatsu Restaurant, Valle Luna and China Chili. Must see hot spots; Downtown, the Grand Canyon, Fountain Hills Park, Westgate outlets and of course everyone’s favorite disc golf store The Disc Shack.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The entirety of the disc golf community is to thank for our presence. We would not exist if it were not for the love and support we have received. We work tirelessly to reciprocate and give back.
