We had the good fortune of connecting with Jayy the Kid and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jayy, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is the faith I have in myself. Progression with life or anything really is all about the chances you take. Those moments that separates you, the ones who talk about it, and the ones who are about it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What I’m most proud of is the fact that I took a chance on myself at a very early age. When I was younger I noticed a lot of people around me got used to the thought of just settling. Whether it was settling for their career or settling for their love life or settling for their dreams etc. I think that goes into one of the hardest obstacles I had to face and still face till this day is just the thought of being comfortable with where I’m at, knowing that I have way more potential than I give myself. Being musician or being an entrepreneur anything where you are putting yourself out vulnerably to make a living is never easy. You’ll face a lot of discrimination, rejection, being taken advantage of, and so on and so forth. It’s the ones who constantly still push no matter how many times they tell them no, until they get that one yes. What I want the world to know about my story is that regardless of the things that happened in my life regardless of what the world expected my life to turn out to be or regardless of how I was raised or brought up. I never let the world try to define me, only what I left all on the table to define .

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
if you’re looking for something out on the town with more social interactions and a city life type of vibe I would definitely suggest Tempe. Beautiful scenery, delicious food, and even boat rides on the lake itself. If you’re looking for something more outside the city and more of a outdoor type of vibe, there are so many different and adventurous hikes all throughout the valley.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout is dedicated to the fans and supporters. Without the constant show of support and love towards my music, I don’t think I would be as confident as I am if it were not for the people who really enjoy my music and what I have to say.
