Meet Jenna Belsterling | Owner of Logan & Rose Design Co.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenna Belsterling and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jenna, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always had a bit of a creative side, but wasn’t a “maker” and didn’t want to have to dedicate a whole lot of time to building a business. I work full-time and am also a wife and a mom too, which is my most important and favorite work, so I didn’t want something that would keep me away from my family. When I heard of permanent jewelry, not only did I want it immediately for myself, but I thought it would be the perfect outlet for my creativity and a great way to bring something fun to craft fairs and markets in the valley! The extra money on the side certainly doesn’t hurt either!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Although I’m a creative and small business owner on the side, I also work full-time for a large financial institution here in the valley. I’ve been with this organization since I was in high school and have literally grown up within it’s 4 walls, starting as an agent on the phone in customer service and working my way up to a senior level leader managing approximately 175 people. Throughout my career, I’ve learned so many things that have contributed to my success, but here’s a handful that are noteworthy: 1. Take risks and put yourself out there to go after what you want.
2. Feedback is a gift, even if you don’t agree, you can always learn something from it.
3. Don’t ever take yourself too seriously.
4. People and relationships over everything else.
5. Demonstrate humility, it’s ok to not know everything.
The coolest thing is, I’m just a simple girl who had a vision and just a little bit of creativity. I used all of what I’ve learned to move up the corporate ladder to build a small business that I absolutely love! Trust me, you can do it too!!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh man, it depends on the time of year, there is so much beauty to see in Arizona! But I’ll just pretend the weather is perfect! I’d recommend heading up to Sedona to see the amazing red rocks and maybe go on a pink jeep tour. There are several mountains around the valley if we’re feeling like a hike (Thunderbird, Camelback, to name a few). I’d definitely take her to historic Cave Creek for some live country music, line dancing and bull riding (either real or electric)! There are so many amazing hotels with fantastic pools around town so we’d definitely spend a day relaxing poolside. SHOPPING! One of my favorite places to go for some of the best deals in town is Last Chance, but get ready to pull your sleeves up! Then we’d hit up some boutique type shops like The Merchantile and 85 Local to support small businesses and find some of the best hand-crafted stuff around! We’d check out some farmer’s markets for local honey and other yummy treats! And finally, we’d be finishing off every single day with tacos!! Phoenix has the best Mexican food so there would be several places to dive into some chips and salsa – Top Shelf, Valle Luna, El Encanto, Barrio Queen, just to name a few.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, my husband, who is my biggest supporter and encourager! My babies, who give me the desire to provide a good example for how to go after the things you want. My parents who instilled a strong work ethic in me since I was a little girl. My sister, who is my rock, my confidant, my sounding board and best friend. One of my best friends, Brittany, who encourages me in all things I do and never misses a market! The whole community of female and mother entrepreneurs who always support and build each other up! And finally, my grandparents who are Holocaust survivors and have been the example to our family to always fight, stay strong and work hard.
