We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Silverstein and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My business, KRAVGIRL Tactics, empowers women, men and young adults all over LA and So Cal. By giving them life saving skills to defend themselves. But even if they are never a victim of an attack, these skills will build their awareness, strength, power and self defense skills on so many other levels that will help them in life. Build balance, confidence, and coordination just to name a few. Individuals who have already been a victim of an attack, or Domestic Violence, bullying or other tragic event, can take their power back and rewire the post traumatic Stress in their brain and body by learning the martial arts and going through the various tactics and techniques needed to build them up again and get their power back. These trainings make the community stronger and safer on so many levels. Police are being defunded and crime is increasing. It is on the public at large to learn how to defend and protect themselves and their families. Sex Trafficking is a huge and underestimated business that effects thousands of families a day. I teach parents, children and the community how to recognize the dangers and defend against being victimized.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
KRAVGIRL TACTICS as a business developed organically as I saw myself becoming a master instructor and passing the vital skills I have learned through my many years of training to to other people. As I saw I need and a huge gap for more women and young girls to learn and have these vital life saving skills. I started to promote myself on a grass roots level to the community to promote awareness and the need to learn self defense. I quickly saw there are not as many female instructors as males, I wanted to be an inspiration and role model to encourage more women to take the martial arts journey and discover their hidde abailities and power. It just was a natural transition for me based on my life experiences, training and skills. I will continue the journey till the end. Hopefully bringing as many people with me as possible.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
LA is full of fun places to go. Some of my favorite must sees are the various hiking trails and parks. Griffith Park and Balboa park are my 2 favorite. Restaurants abound. I like to go anywhere the good food is. Wood ranch BBQ, Cheescake factory. Sushi… Mexican, it’s all good. My city has a new outdoor mall called The Villiage. There’s also the 3rd street promenade. Must have a beach day in Malibu and Santa Monica.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Spice Williams-Crosby from I Fight Gor my Life ( my partner and Mentor)

Jacov Bresler Street Smart Surval Skills instructor and my teacher

Stewart Schumann Tactical trainer and my instructor

These people are among many, but have added and contributed to my teachings and trainings over the years. I would not be the instructor I am today, without them.
