We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted a product that was pure & natural and you knew what the ingredients were. Everyone in my family and close friends all suffer from some type of skin issue or ailment and I wanted to address those and work to fix them. I took a good 2 years to develop this brand and all the recipes I use and I think that really shows in my final products. So far my company has treated and alleviated eczema, scleroderma, psoriasis, sun burns, and dry & cracked skin for so many people in just the last year!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My company is an all natural skincare company that specializes in stopping skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis and dry skin using nothing but natural ingredients. We are taking skincare back to the beginning and starting with the basic ingredients and leaving out all the stuff your skin doesn’t need. I developed this brand in my living room with the help of my kids and used them as test subjects (don’t worry none of them were harmed, that bad) to make sure it was not only safe on people of all ages but it actually fixed and restored the problems they were having for so long. I am still a growing company and have faced challenges like funding, raising kids alone while working on this dream and struggling with rising costs to keep my products affordable to the majority of people. I think the most challenging aspect of running my business is not being able to count on a steady income for my kids. But I truly believe in this brand I’m building and know without a doubt that this is going places and I have faith in everything I do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely head up north for some fun in Williams and ride the train to the Grand Canyon. Spend a night in the White Horse Campground and kayak at the lake. Then I would head to Sedona for a nice day hike on one of their gorgeous trails and then eat in town at maybe the pizza pub or any of the restaurants because I love supporting local places. Then head to Jerome and play around in the town and hopefully see some ghost activity. After our northern adventures we can head down to scottsdale and play at Bam Kazam for a few hours of brain and body twisting fun! Always stop by the Pinnacle Peak market on Saturday mornings for your local shopping & produce in northern phoenix. There is also plenty of lakes around the valley to enjoy a nice paddle board or kayak in and so many places to hike and explore our beautiful state as well! Lastly I would head to Tempe Town lake and see the statues and have fun at the park while walking around town.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe most of my dedication to my work-life balance and success to my mom. She taught me so much and was a great role model. Making cakes and candies with her when I was just a little girl and selling them together are some of my fondest memories and it taught me so much about life, parenthood and business all at once. The rest goes to my kids for sticking through all the ups and downs and helping me achieve my dreams. All 4 of them are my absolute rock and I could not of made it this far without them. It also goes without saying that I have the most amazing customers and without all of you I would not be where we are!
