We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeremy Sisneros and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeremy, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always enjoyed creating something that people would enjoy. I’ve tried many things before setting on music. I tried doing sports or getting into stuff other people liked but non of it was really for me. It wasn’t until the end of my first year in middle school till I figured out I had a passion for music. I’ve been playing the guitar for many years now and every time I play it it makes me feel a certain way. The look on people’s faces when I get to do that solo or start off the song they know is what really keeps me going. The excitement of watching my band grow and succeed is the best feeling in the world. When we get the call the play with one of our favorite bands or knowing you’re leaving for tour in a few days is what keeps you on the edge of your seat. Writing music is the best cause I really feel like I can express what I’m feeling at that time. It really is awesome when you show everyone in the band and after we all just look at each other and go that’s a hit. Even when writing I always look back on my influences. I look back on the bands and artists I was super into when I was younger to now that I’m older. I incorporate a little of all.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what really sets FaceRipper apart from others is our passion and drive for our music and band. Everyday is working on something new or trying to create something to keep us going.

We’re super proud of our upcoming shows and tours we have planned it’s crazy to see how far we have come. I’m proud of the music we write and create. It’s an awesome feeling when we write a new song and get to play it live cause it always gets this look on fans faces like we haven’t heard this one before. Then watching them rock out to this new song is a proud feeling for sure.

We got our start from our good friends in a band called Lacerator who unfortunately is around anymore. I remember meeting them at one of their shows and we kicked it off from there. I remember telling that I played in a band and we were called FaceRipper. Maybe a week later we get a text from them and they asked if we wanted to play an upcoming show and we agreed. We just said yes of course. We didn’t even have a full line up yet and we had a month before this show so we completed a line up and a few songs. We really just set off from there. After that show everyone felt pretty impressed even the headliner band from Tucson called Like a Villain. So after that show Lacerator really took us under their wing and helped us get to a point where we became known. FaceRipper and Lacerator became an iconic duo in New Mexico. Unfortunately things come to an end and they broke up. We still owe so much to them cause they’re the reason we even got a start and a chance. Everyday we work a little at a time to make this bigger and bigger if that’s booking shows, booking tour dates or writing music we strive to create a form of content that people can enjoy.

It’s definitely a challenge trying to get out of New Mexico there really isn’t anyone from here and it’s kinda a small town. It’s challenging trying to get heard of cause there’s so many people trying to do the same. It’s also challenge when people try to knock you down but you just have to get right up and keep pushing if you want to be successful.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take them to try some New Mexican food some of my favorite place Sadie’s. Saggios pizza is a good spot dions pizza is also a New Mexico favorite. The frontier or golden pride is a spot with great breakfast or fried chicken. I would take them to walk around old town it’s a cool place to see some of the New Mexican culture. We have a tram system that takes you up to the top of the Sandia mountains so that’s a super cool thing to see.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out the person who really started my music journey JD Nash. I would like to shout out our good friends in the band Lacerator. Also our AZ homies in the band Gatecreeper.
