Meet Jess Pate

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jess Pate and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jess, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
“Do something you love and you’ll never work a day in your life” I completely disagree with this statement! I promise you I love what I do, but I have worked extremely hard to get to where I’m at. I need breaks and vacations from time to time. But the best thing is that I’m excited to come back to what I do… And that’s how I know I love it. You should always work hard for the things you love.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Calibrate Pilates is a private-based Pilates studio In Scottsdale, Arizona. I specialize in training professional athletes in MLB, NFL and NHL. I have made it my mission to help my clients recalibrate their bodies to perform on (and off) the field effectively. Most of my pride in my business comes from my players success. It is always fascinating to me to watch the work we do inside the studio come to life on the field. I’ve come a long way since our last interview! I have had my small business for 3 years now and have taken on much more clientele. I am also a Master Trainer for Pilates Sports Center; meaning I can now certify people in Pilates. It’s been an amazing 9 years of my Pilates journey and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It’s a good thing my best friend and I like to do the same things because I would be spending most of the week resort hopping and laying by the pools of some of the Arizona resorts. The new Caesars Hotel has been a fun spot for me lately. The Joya Spa at the Omni resort is definitely a must for anyone who comes to visit me. And of course, if we decided to dress up one night, we would head to the Global Ambassador in Phoenix for some dinner and drinks. I’m a pretty low-key type of gal, but these are a couple of my favorites to spoil myself with.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My list would go on for days if I could name everybody that has supported me. Kelly Snailum has been my mentor for nine years and we have only grown closer and more in tune with each other since day one. I’m grateful for her guidance and trust in me. There are also multiple people who have paved the way for me to have my business. I promise you I would not have a functioning/running business if it weren’t for these people. I know who they are, and they know who they are, and I am beyond blessed by their generosity, advice and kindness toward me and my business.
