Meet Jessica Rutherford | Boudoir Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Rutherford and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
Boudoir photography is inspiring to me, because it empowers women to see themselves in a new light, to feel confident and beautiful in their own skin. Allowing women to see themselves as sensual, confident, and beautiful, rather than focusing on perceived flaws or imperfections.

These photographs can serve as a reminder of her beauty and confidence, and can be shared with a partner or kept as a private reminder of self-love.

Many women report feeling more comfortable in their own skin, and experiencing a renewed sense of self-worth after a boudoir photo shoot. The fact that I can help women to see themselves in a new and positive light, and boost their confidence and self-esteem, is a very rewarding experience.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Becoming a boudoir photographer has been a transformative experience for me in overcoming my own body image issues. It has given me the opportunity to work with a diverse group of women, all of whom have their own unique body image issues. I have learned that the key to overcoming body image issues is to focus on the beauty and strength of the individual, rather than their perceived flaws. I encourage my clients to focus on the positive aspects of their bodies and to let go of the negative thoughts and feelings that have been holding them back. I remind them that their bodies are strong and capable, and that they should be celebrated and appreciated for all that they are.

As I’ve helped my clients to see themselves in a new light, I too now see myself differently. I appreciate my own body for what it can do, rather than focusing on perceived flaws. True beauty comes in many forms and everyone deserves to feel confident and beautiful in their own skin. One thing that surprised me is that my clients were not looking for perfection, but rather for a photographer who could capture the unique beauty and sensuality in them.

I created Captured Photography to do just that, we set ourselves apart from other boudoir photographers by offering a luxury experience. This means that we take the time to get to know our clients to understand her vision and tailor the shoot to her unique style and preferences. We provide a comfortable and relaxing environment for our clients to let their guard         down and truly express themselves. Our goal is not just to capture beautiful images, but to create an experience that empowers and uplifts our clients.

We provide a range of services to enhance the overall photo shoot experience. This includes things like hair and makeup services, wardrobe consultation, wine and chocolates, a private viewing of the final photographs, and personalized attention throughout the entire process, from the first phone call/text to the delivery of the photos, to ensure that each client feels confident and beautiful every step of the way. We also offer a variety of options for the final product, including albums, wall art, and digital files, to ensure that each client has a tangible reminder of her empowering experience.

We use high-end photographic and editing equipment, employ minimal editing techniques, and use professional lighting to enhance our clients’ natural beauty to create stunning, timeless images that truly capture the essence of the woman in front of our camera. We are dedicated to creating a luxurious and unforgettable experience for our clients.

Through working as a boudoir photographer,  I learned to be more confident in myself and to be more accepting of my own imperfections. I now see that my own body image issues were not unique, and that many women struggle with the same feelings of insecurity and self-doubt. I believe that by focusing on the beauty and strength of the individual, rather than their perceived flaws, we can all learn to love and appreciate our bodies for all that they are. Overall, my journey as a boudoir photographer has been an incredibly transformative experience. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with so many amazing women and to help them see themselves in a more positive light.

I created Captured Photography to empower and inspire women to embrace their femininity and feel confident and beautiful in their own skin. Our goal is not just to take great photos, but to help women see themselves in a new light. It’s not just a photo shoot, it’s an experience.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hiking is my passion! Exploring the beautiful trails of Arizona is one of my favorite things to do. Each hike offers a unique and unforgettable experience, whether it’s tackling the rugged terrain of Bear Mountain Trail, taking in the stunning views of Sedona at Devils Bridge, the towering heights of Camelback Mountain, or the challenges of Tom’s Thumb trail. There’s nothing like the thrill of discovering new trails.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

A heartfelt shout out to my late mother, Renata, who was always my biggest supporter and believed in me no matter what. Your love and guidance will always be with me.

To my boyfriend Keith, thank you for supporting my dream of helping women feel confident and beautiful through boudoir photography. Your unwavering support means the world to me.

And to my son Michael, watching you grow into the compassionate young man you are today fills me with so much pride. Your support and encouragement is a true blessing.
