We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Kennedy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joshua, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
My name is Josh Kennedy and I’m in The Black Moods. I grew up in a small town called Wheaton Missouri, with a population of around 700. Growing up where I did, most people have respect for each other and are kind to one another. Being surrounded by that, doesn’t prepare you for how harsh it can be in the world, especially in the music business, but makes it easier to meet people, which I’m very grateful for. So, that’s probably good for networking.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am in a 3 piece rock’n’roll band out of Tempe AZ. We write and play everything. No gimmicks or tracks. I believe what sets us apart from a lot of other bands is that we eat, sleep and dream it. For the most part, we are together all the time. We are constantly writing and playing, and we haven’t killed each other yet. We have one more single coming out called “HOME” from our album “Sunshine” February 5th. Very excited for that. As far as what’s next, we started work on a new album when the pandemic hit, and we are also working on a movie. We have kept very busy. Getting to this point wasn’t easy, but we are tenacious. The more people told us “No”, the more it fueled our fire.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would drive down to Puerto Penasco Mexico. It’s 4 hours south of Phoenix. Our first stop being Banditos when we roll in and get a “Jack-colada” or 3. Then make our way down to “Wrecked At The Reef” and put our feet in the sand. Grab a beer and a bite then head down town to the “Boo Bar” in time for sunset. Drink. Repeat.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our friends, fans and radio family for getting behind us and allowing us to do what we do. We LOVE playing music, and it couldn’t be done without them.
