We had the good fortune of connecting with Justin “Twntybeatz” Valentine and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Justin “Twntybeatz”, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I feel like I’ve always had the desire to create. As a kid growing up, I used to draw, make animations, film YouTube videos, anything that I could do to express myself. Once I got to high school, I started to really focus in on making music. I’d have local artists come every day to record songs in the makeshift studio I made in my room & by the time I graduated, I had started to see a decent amount of traction start to build on the songs that I would produce. Once I saw that I knew this was exactly what I wanted to do full time.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started taking music seriously when I was about 17 years old. I had no real background in it, but had a burning passion that made me know for sure this was what I wanted to do. I started producing songs out of my bedroom with kids I went to school with, and then started reaching out through social media to start collaborating with artists across the country. When I left California to go to college in Arizona, I started immersing myself in the music scene out there and working with artists all across the greater Phoenix area. They helped bring out the best in my work and helped get the attention of the people back in LA that manage me now. Fast forward to today and that “by any means necessary” mentality has put me in rooms with some of the biggest names in music, performing for sold out crowds, and crossing off all the goals I set for myself back when I first started.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Man, there’s so many great places to visit in Arizona. If I had to choose, I’m definitely taking them to do the Salt River tubing, going to downtown Phoenix to get food at some of the low-key local spots around town, and probably hit Old Town Scottsdale at night. Definitely gotta catch a Suns game too while they’re out there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to attribute a lot of where I am today to the people who’ve believed in me. Everyone at the studios I’ve interned at, the artists and producers who took me under their wing when I was coming up, and of course my team at Sytrus Sound for pushing me to be the best that I can be. My friends, girlfriend, and family members too for trusting in the visions I have, and for being my support system and having my back no matter how hard it gets. I truly appreciate them for what they’ve done for me not just as an artist, but as a person too.
