We had the good fortune of connecting with Karolina Urbanova and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Karolina, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
To achieve a good work life balance is so important for me. It helps me get my life together and it also helps me stay calm, not stressed. It all requires discipline. Self-discipline is something what I’ve been learning for years and it’s still hard sometimes. Once you get into it, you’re a winner. It provides the strength and focus to overcome distractions, achieve goals, and maintain healthy habits. Through self-discipline, you improve productivity, time management, and overall well-being. It is essential for success. When I improved all of that, especially time management and productivity, suddenly there was a work life balance. You meet your work deadlines, you’re productive and have time for self care and for friends and family. It’s so easy to talk about it but small steps every day will get us there.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
4 years ago, I didn’t even know where to direct my life. I was trying to build my Instagram page but I hated my job. I was afraid of new beginnings. Once I moved to the US, everything started to make sense. I am so proud of this step because I left my comfort zone and everything could start. I started doing what I love, great job in Arizona, I started traveling together with my boyfriend and improved content creation. Thanks to that we could start working with brands.
When we came back to our country after 3 years living in the States, we started investing in real estate so that we can have a passive income and a little bit more freedom.
During those 3 years in the US, we also planned our own clothing brand, which we are now slowly but surely trying to realize. So let’s hope that if I have another interview for Shoutout Arizona in the future, I will also be a small business owner. 🙂
The biggest challenge for me was to leave my comfort zone even when I knew it was the best decision. I always tell myself that all risks I take are the good ones and if anything doesn’t work out well I know I tried my best, I learn from it and I move forward. I learned that starting something new is not always easy, but it is always a great experience.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Because I have been traveling for the past 3 years, I have fallen in love with places other than my own country or my hometown. I lived in Arizona which I absolutely love. I really hope my best friend will visit me there. I love Flagstaff and Phoenix, restaurants and bars in Scottsdale.
I’ve met the most amazing people in Flagstaff so I’d love to introduce her to all of them.
We wouldn’t stay in one city. We would travel around and try to squeeze as much as possible in that one week.
I’d take her to National Parks (sunrise at the Grand Canyon is my favorite), sunset over the red rocks of Arizona, stargazing in the darkness of the Arizona desert. We’d drive to Nevada and Las Vegas to experience this amazing city that never sleeps.
Monument Valley is also one of my favorite places… I am speechless everytime I see it. So if we would make it there during that week, I’d love to show her some of my favorite places in Utah too.
I absolutely love Utah… The nature and National Parks are incredibly beautiful (Zion, Bryce Canyon are my favorite).
It’s so hard because me and my boyfriend visited 33 states and in every one of them there was something amazing. So if my best friend came to visit me, I would try to make her itinerary full of all the amazing places.
About restaurants, I love vegan sushi restaurants in Las Vegas and all the acai bowl bistros and cafes in Phoenix.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to mention my family including my boyfriend first, because despite the traumas that happened to us, they always managed to support me and thanks to them, I made many decisions that positively changed my life. I think that everyone needs such support and love, it’s always easier with that.
Moving abroad and traveling taught me a lot!
I started to be much more interested in books. I try to read as much as possible and I recommend it to everyone.
Some books that helped me change my life: Atomic Habits, The Secret, The Four Agreements, It Didn’t Start With You.
Can’t wait to read Jen Sincero’s bestsellers too.
Someone who helped me move my online work forward is Ashleigh Warren. Learned a ton from her and still learning.
