We had the good fortune of connecting with Kay Bodude and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kay, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
I am a mother of seven young adults, age range 34 years to 15 years. What I believe to be the most important thing I have done as a parent to impact my children is to believe in Thier self. If you can learn, you can do and become anything or person you want to be. Also, for them to live and try to be the best version of self.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am co-owner of a multimillion-dollar group home empire. This business was started with $12,500 in 2017 with one home and now we own several homes and facility. Starting this group home was not particularly easy, because the city we were trying to open the first home, the biggest psychiatric hospital was telling us that there was not a need for anymore group homes in the area. If not for the passion to care for people with mental health issues, I probably would have given up. My passion stemmed from having to grow up with and care for my eldest sister who was diagnosed bipolar and schizophrenic. I am a serial entrepreneur: group home ownership is my main business, healthcare consultant, property investing, and The “Business Catalyst” where I assist other new entrepreneurs move their business forward.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Things I liked to do in Arizona: comedy clubs, networking events, visit some of the local tourist attractions and towns (tombstone, Jerome, bisby,,,,,,,). Places to eat in the area would be Gladly, Poke bar, Sugar Jams to mention a few and also visit some of the local food trucks throughout the city. My most relaxing time is to just sit by the backyard pool in the shade with a good book.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First I want to give all honor to God, he has been the best mentor I could have asked for. I want to recognize my parents the late Bishop Isaac Metcalf and Fannie Metcalf, my 14 siblings because without them I would not be the person I am today. My husband of 23 years Ebenezer Bodude who has supported me in his own way and pushed me to my limits. and last but not least my children, they support mom in the good and in the bad.
