We had the good fortune of connecting with KC Turner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi KC, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
For me it was the dream of cutting my own path and combining my passion with how I pay the rent. I feel very lucky that early on in life I discovered my own personal path to happiness is living your passion. Every time I confirm a concert, or step on the stage to introduce an artist, I am living my dream.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
For a concert promoter, the art is curating an experience and connection between the artist and the fan. To do it right, it goes beyond just having a stage, a sound system, and someone selling tickets. There is so much detail that goes into every concert I present. The relationships I have with the artists and their teams, to the connection and trust I’ve developed with the public. Each show is unique depending on who is performing and where the show is being held. While I still learn something new at every show I produce, it’s the years of learning the craft and learning more about myself that allows me to deliver what I do best.

My end goal is when a fan sees that it’s a “KC Turner Presents” concert, that their experience will be top notch and their favorite artist who they’re seeing that night is well taken care of.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
SAN FRANCISCO, CA

When folks come to visit my favorite city in the world, I instantly get overwhelmed with excitement. It’s easy to want to show someone everything I’ve seen and done over the last 17 years of living here. I’m so in love with this city, it’s food culture, bars, music venues, parks, and beaches. Starting off with a day pack and a “city hike” is the best way to get to know San Francisco. Walking in the alleys, up hidden stair cases, pit stops at Spec’s in North Beach for a few drinks, seeing Lands End at sunset, Crissy Field in the morning, eating tacos in the Mission District, taking in the Castro and all of it’s history, walking in the footsteps of the Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin in the Upper Haight. I could go on and on.

Let me put it this way. If I’m your guide, I’m going to wear you out in the never ending adventure that is San Francisco.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
