Meet Keith Eshelman | Co-founder and CEO of Parks Project

We had the good fortune of connecting with Keith Eshelman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Keith, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to make a difference in the outdoors and use business as a means to support parks.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Getting to where we are was definitely not easy and not for the faint of heart. Many failures, I’ve cried, laughed, and also hit the floor in defeat. Got here because I strongly believed in the vision and often times had to dig deep to overcome seemingly impossible to solve problems. You have to overcome the challenges one at a time, compartmentalize things to focus, hit it with a can do attitude, and support the team who at the end of the day, is going to be able to do it better than you. I’d say I want to let the world know that we can all make a difference and the true potential of humans is amazing, let’s all join forces to solve problems in the world and make it a better place. Find your passion, your cause, and dive into it head first.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would jam out of LA and go to Yosemite to explore, hike to epic desolate places, celebrate over the campfire, and do some service to leave it better. Learn about the park, learn about ourselves, and come back better humans.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Who deserves credit and recognition are the team of all stars that build parks project daily, humbled by what they can get done together. All going the extra mile to push our mission to leave it better and to support growing our impact. A special shoutout to the 23 staff (small but mighty!) here at Parks Project.
