Meet Kelly Lorenzen | CEO, Wife, Mother, Philanthropist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Lorenzen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kelly, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It started with a desire to create a life I didn’t need a vacation from. After 20+ years of owning and operating small businesses, I know the challenges entrepreneurs face—especially the overwhelm of trying to do it all alone. I started KLM Consulting, Marketing, and Management to be the partner I wish I had in my early days of business ownership. I wanted to build a company that not only helps small business owners grow and thrive, but also gives them back time—time to focus on what truly matters in life.
As a breast cancer survivor, wife, and mom, I’ve learned that resilience and purpose go hand-in-hand. My goal with KLM is to empower others to build sustainable businesses that align with their values and support their lifestyle. I believe in doing what you love and outsourcing everything else—and that belief became the heartbeat of our business model at KLM.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At KLM Consulting, Marketing, and Management, we help small business owners grow—with clarity, confidence, and less stress. We’re a full-service business development firm that supports entrepreneurs with marketing strategy, project management, and systems development. Whether you need a complete marketing team, a strategic partner to manage your operations, or someone to simply help you get out of overwhelm—we’re here for it.
What sets us apart is that we don’t just give advice—we roll up our sleeves and implement with you. We’re all about action, results, and building strong relationships with our clients. And it works. We’ve helped clients 5x their revenue, build their brand from scratch, get featured in the media, launch new programs, and grow their teams. Watching our clients hit their next level is the best part of what we do!
But getting here wasn’t easy. Like many business owners, I’ve had to navigate burnout, health challenges, and the rollercoaster that entrepreneurship brings. KLM was born out of a need I had as a business owner early on. I knew I wanted to build a business that helped others grow with purpose and support.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned? You can’t do it all alone—and you shouldn’t have to. I started KLM so entrepreneurs could have a trusted partner who gets it. We believe in strategy AND action.
At the end of the day, we’re here to help business owners do more of what they love and grow with intention. That’s what drives us every single day.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting Phoenix for the week, I’d plan the perfect mix of local flavor, desert adventure, and relaxation. We’d kick off the trip with a cozy brunch at US Egg. Afterward, we’d explore the vibrant art scene on Roosevelt Row, popping into local boutiques and admiring the murals that make the area so special.
On day two, we’d wake up early for a hike up Camelback Mountain, soaking in the sunrise and epic views. After, we’d unwind with a spa day at Joya Spa at the Omni Scottsdale.
For something extra special, we’d head out to Castle Hot Springs on day three for a two-night stay. Nestled in the Bradshaw Mountains, it’s the perfect place to unplug, soak in natural hot springs, and indulge in farm-to-table meals grown right on the property.
We’d continue soaking up the beauty of Castle Hot Springs on day four—spending the morning doing yoga, followed by an afternoon hike through the surrounding canyons. Every detail at this resort is locally inspired and centered around wellness, so we’d fully relax before heading back to the city.
On day five, we’d enjoy a laid-back lunch at La Santisima. In the afternoon, we’d stroll through Arcadia and stop at Local Nomad, a boutique full of beautifully curated goods from small makers.
For day six, we’d take a day trip to Sedona to hike Cathedral Rock and soak in the red rock beauty.
If they were up for one more adventure, we’d finish the trip with a peaceful drive to Greer, Arizona on day seven.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m a big believer that no one builds success alone—and I have a long list of amazing people who’ve lifted me up, cheered me on, and helped shape KLM into what it is today.
First and foremost, my incredible husband—who also happens to be our CFO—has been my rock, both in business and in life. His support, encouragement, and belief in my vision have meant the world.
I’m endlessly grateful for my KLM team. They are the heartbeat of the business, and none of this would be possible without their hard work, passion, and commitment to helping our clients succeed. It’s truly a team effort around here, and I couldn’t ask for a more dedicated and talented group of professionals.
I also want to give a huge shoutout to my mentor, Jackie Thompson. Her wisdom, kindness, and straight-talk guidance helped me push through tough decisions and step into leadership with confidence.
And I wouldn’t be the entrepreneur I am today without the impact of two powerhouse coaches: Dena Patton and Margo Crawford. Their guidance came at pivotal moments in my journey and has left a lasting impact on how I run both my business and my life.
Success is never a solo mission—it’s a community, a village, and a whole lot of love. I’m incredibly thankful for every person who’s been part of this journey.
