Meet Kelly Stevens | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Stevens and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelly, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My business stemmed from following my passions outside of my original career. I enjoyed learning everything I could about photography and trying all different aspects within the field. I finally realized I love capturing connections between people, getting to know them to really highlight their personalities, and taking what would be fleeting memories and documenting them so they last. Once my processes and skills were established, I decided to make it my own business and career.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a photographer and I specialize in capturing the connection and love between people, so I work mostly with weddings and families. I am so honored that I am trusted to capture some of the most important moments in my couples’ lives as well as accurately document connection within families over many seasons of life.

It has taken years to understand how to really get to know my couples and families and be able to confidently photograph their significant moments in addition to perfecting my technical photography. There is so much more to what I do than just showing up and taking some pictures. It’s my goal to understand my clients individually and read their connection in order to reflect that emotion in their final images. Delivering the best experience for my clients is top priority and I’m always learning and striving to deliver more. I am fortunate to have made many friends through this journey and have learned from other talented photographers.

Ultimately, I’m here to beautifully and authentically capture real moments that evoke emotion.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the north shore of Massachusetts and have lived in the area my whole life!

I would definitely start with Boston, I love that you can walk the whole city. Explore the Common and Gardens and try Sam LaGrassa’s sandwiches for lunch. Walking through South Boston is beautiful at night and Barcelona has amazing food! Finish the night at any Irish pub for music and a drink!

There is so much to see north of Boston too! Reds in Salem is one of the best breakfasts around and right down the street from A&J King bakery. Any of the area beaches are beautiful, I love Crane Beach in Ipswich – the beach is great and there are trails to explore nearby. Howling Wolf, back in Salem, is our go-to for tacos and drinks and it’s not a far walk from waterfront breweries to end the night!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank my husband, Derek, for supporting me and my business. He was supportive while I explored many career paths and never doubted or hesitated when I knew photography was the right path for me. Derek not only helped me and my business but also helped our growing family while we adapted to this change. Thank you!
