Meet Kennedy Renea | Baker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kennedy Renea and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kennedy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought behind starting my business is that I have a passion for baking. Baking has always been therapeutic for me. Starting a business is a commitment and dedication. I enjoy baking treats and selling them to people to see their reactions. What I like about starting my business is that I can do what I want with my business. It feels like something other than a job doing something I love.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m currently working a 9 to 5-job. I’m also currently attending Strayer University, and I’m about to graduate in September 2023. I’m graduating with my bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Working, attending college, and starting a business have been a challenge. I’m fortunate to have my family and friends supporting me. But I know it will all be worth it in the long run. What I want the world to know is if you have a dream or goal you want to accomplish, then go for it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Charleston, South Carolina, has fantastic places to visit, eat, drink, and hang out. First, I would show my best friend the top attractions in the Charleston area. I would take them to Joe Riley Waterfront Park, Fort Sumter National Monument, Middleton Place, and Magnolia Plantation & Gardens. I would reserve a city tour on the Historic Horse & Carriage tour. I would take them to Magnolias, Butcher & Bee, and 82 Queen. The most fun places in Charleston are the South Carolina Aquarium, The Battery, The Charleston Museum, and the nighttime ghost tour.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out my parents for encouraging and supporting me and my dreams to pursue my baking business. They inspire me to go follow my dreams and never give up. I also want to credit the Charleston Night Bazaar for selecting me to participate in my first live event. Make sure you follow them on Instagram – @chsnightbazaar
