Meet Kenny Sabian | Composer and Audio Engineer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenny Sabian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kenny, what inspires you?
I’m inspired by the people I work on projects with. I’ve always struggled with self motivation, getting bogged down in details and self consciousness, so having a team of people helps me to instead focus on them and what I can do to support them. I work much better in a team environment and without the people I work with, I probably wouldn’t be pursuing film.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been working sound since I was a teenager and a musician before that. There’s not a large community of filmmakers, with even less focused on the audio side of filmmaking. I love working with Lethal Hobo and am generally a large part of the sound department, so I’ve always been proud of having enough experience and knowledge to bring all the parts of the mix together (from the dialogue and effects to the music). I’ve been lucky enough to work on several projects that have been accepted into various film festivals, with several winning an award or two. This work is likely going to be a lifetime obsession of mine and learning everything I need to learn to continue increasing the quality of my work has been an exciting challenge.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The music scene down in Tempe and Phoenix have been a favorite of mine. Crescent Ballroom, Rebel Lounge, The Nile, Yucca Tap Room hold great memories for me and there’s so many more venues too!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I couldn’t be doing this without Josh Feldhake. He’s the reason I got into film and he’s the reason that I keep going. He’s supportive friend, a discerning creative and dedicated to making sure that every project we work on is healthy and supportive for the people we bring on.
