We had the good fortune of connecting with Kiefer Strong and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kiefer, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I enjoy taking risk. Especially more now, without hesitation. growing up I’ve come to learn, and strongly believe that things happen for a reason. Whether a good, or bad situation, the outcome is always greater in some way. We’re all destined for something. but it’s our choices that dictate how long it takes to get there. 32 now, and 2 years alcohol free, I look back and thank God and Mother, for the downfalls and risks I took. Sometimes that risky decision can lead you through a downward spiral of madness, alcoholism and disappointment, and once you’re down, you can either stay down and play it safe, or learn from the mistakes and lessons it teaches. Never give up, and Never be afraid to take the leap, cause on the other hand a risky decision can open the shortcut, door to whatever success is to you, and meant for you.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Currently I keep busy with my Booking and Promotion company, Eden Entertainment, booking monthly music events. I also am currently working on a new, Rock Opera Album, inspired by the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and a Funky RnB album, that’s inspired by the Motown sound!

Kiefer Strong and the Mad Reefer is a fusion of Funk Rock, and Hip Hop. An old school taste that will make your body shake.
We’ll make you dance.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Downtown Tucson, especially the Screening Room. It’s all good Vibes, Music, and Nightlife.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to my older brother Michael Avila, Drummer for Quid Punk Quo, former drummer for the Alien Punk band Apollo 03, and my muse, he put my first Bass guitar in my hand and has inspired ideas in me that have evolved into what I found a passion for. I wouldn’t be part of who I am without him. He is always Inspiring, until the end.
