We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristin La Roque and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process behind my business is two reasons. The first reason was to start a mobile concierge business for women that wanted to feel comfortable and CONFIDENT in their own skin while getting pampered at home. The second reason was to teach women they can start their own business at any time in their life. I feel historically women weren’t taught it is ok to be a female and own a business. I believe this caused many women to not learn financial literacy along with the CONFIDENCE that comes from building a business from scratch. I decided to create my spray tan business from my car, and then opened my own spray tan studio. Over the last two years, I have created a spray tan academy for women to learn how to spray tan and how to start their own business.

What should our readers know about your business?
You want to know what sets me apart in my business? I treat every client like they just stepped onto the red carpet once they get a spray tan by me. I created my business so every person leaves feeling significantly better than when they came in.  I call it coffee talk with your bff. I believe this is how I went from 0 clients to spray tanning celebrities in the course of 3 years. Treat every client like they are gold and they will refer every person they know to you.

I am proud of the fact that I went to a private arts college in Seattle, and graduated on presidents list (4.0) and got my degree in Fashion Marketing. I became the youngest fashion buyer for Macys at 20 years old. I then went on to Forever 21 as a lingerie fashion buyer in Los Angeles, and the rest is history. I knew I was good at helping companies find the best products while providing the best services.

I got where I am today by falling 10 times and getting up 11. I have realized it is all a mindset in what makes a business become a business. If you tell yourself you are a failure because something didn’t work out, you are right. If you tell yourself that didn’t work out, but you learned “xyz” from it, and take it into your next part of business, then you WIN.

The biggest lesson I learned along the way is it’s going to get HARD before it gets better. Once it gets better you want to level up even more which goes back to a new HARD but it’s worth it in the end.

I want the world to know that my brand is for every woman’s skin color, body type, and lifestyle. It can’t fit into a box. My goal is that you feel confident in the skin you were born in. I started it because of a hard situation that forced me to level up to the best version of myself. I am grateful for the storm that became a beautiful rainbow of a business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I just moved to Arizona end of August and now live downtown at the X Phoenix. It is a very FUN residency. Downtown Phoenix is the next place to live in my opinion. It is blowing up with the coolest spots.

I am more non traditional when it comes to hanging out. I don’t like clubs, and prefer cool vibe lounges. would highly recommend Wren and Wolf. It’s as craft cocktail, restaurant, and coffee bar! The entire vibe, food, and service was impeccable when I was there last. They mentioned they are almost done with their speak easy too!

A cute fun spot to hang out at bar and grab a very tasty drink and app is The Rose Garden. They have $7-$12 app’s and I love the unique decor inside.

A fun spot to check out if you from out of town is Hotel San Carlos. It is said to be haunted by a woman in white, but the famous Marilyn Monroe always stayed when in town to film a movie. It has history, and character. You can get a very yummy bite at the restaurant connected called Centrico. They have the best margarita’s, and staff is very friendly.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The word of God is the book that deserves all my true success. I would like to recognize my relationship with God. I don’t think enough credit goes towards our spiritual relationship with the one who gives us strength, joy, and GIFTS to our success. I am so grateful I found my way back to God after I realized all of my success has will only ever come from Him.
