We had the good fortune of connecting with L. Estefania Quintana and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi L. Estefania, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Baking and cooking have always been something that comes to me easily, and the reason is that I enjoy baking very much. I honestly didn’t have a thought process other than a hobby that soon turned into my small business with the help of other local vendors who have helped spread the word of JVM Munchkins. The only thought behind my business would probably be the name of the business. JVM Munchkins, I told myself if we are going to go vocal about our baked goods let’s go with a business name that is very meaningful to me. Jaydon
Valentina Marisa Munchkins my three beautiful children.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I attended Cosmetology School right after Highschool and I received my diploma before my graduation date. I got to learn a lot during my time in Beauty School – School was located in Chihuahua Mexico. As soon as I finished school I came back to Phoenix Arizona.
I started working at a Landscape Company temporarily as an administrative job “The plan was to work there for a short period of time” Well, I soon moved to the HR Department and Payroll. I fell in love with the HR Department and kept learning and pushing myself to acquire as much knowledge as possible. Not long after I was part of a new branch with the company, during this time I learned a lot about accounting.
The knowledge I gained and learned during the time I was at the landscape Company gave me the tools and the confidence to be where I am at in my current job as an Office Manager at BTE Body Company/ Bruckner’s. I handle all accounting and HR duties in my Branch in Phoenix AZ.
Having the opportunity to help with recruiting helps me a lot with bringing confidence when I talk to our JVM Munchkins customers.
I’ve learned that the choice you make will lead you to where you want to go. I always put all my effort into everything I do. It is not easy to manage my full-time job, add my family schedule and maintain my small business as a baker and owner for JVM Munchkins. But I’m constantly learning each day to organize and prioritize my to-do list.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I don’t consider myself an outdoor person, but I know a couple of places that I would like to show my best friend during the week visit. First place on the itinerary, Amadio Ranch 4701 W Dobbins Rd, Laveen, AZ 85339. The Amadio Ranch opened up its doors to us, and I would like for my Best Friend to meet them in person and tour their beautiful Farm. Grab some pies and honey. Then, head out to visit Desert Botanical Garden. It’s a beautiful place to visit. Grab some snacks and schedule a tour.
The next day, a nice hike heading over to 19th avenue and Trailhead (Hau’Pal Trail, AZ). Then, go back home and get ready to drive ourselves to Mimi Forno Italiano restaurant for a fantastic Lunch/Dinner.
As You Wish Pottery Painting Place will be on the itinerary for the week, a relaxing day to paint and do pottery.
Tacos for Lunch as it is one of my favorite things to eat 🙂 Of course, only at the two favorite locations, I have so far.
Comiendo con Memo (Local Tacos- in Laveen ) and Tacos el Trompo (43rd Ave and Thomas)
West Gate & Outlets is also a fun shopping place to visit and hang out during the night. Next, we will probably stop by The Lola for a drink and head over to Kabuki Sushi for dinner.
The weekend’s farmer markets are a must in Arizona, with many artistic local vendors. One of my favorites is the Laveen Farmers market at the Amadio Ranch. Spend most of the day at the Amadio Ranch meeting Local Vendors at the Market and have breakfast with a delicious coffee from Hillbilly Grind and Lunch from one of the different options at the Farm.
Sedona and Tucson will also be part of the itinerary.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I don’t believe it will be fair to recognize one person. I’ve been blessed with a beautiful, loving family from day one. My son is always with me at every Farmer’s Market we attend, at such young age; I can say He is very independent, loves to help me, and always wants to learn more about our Family business.
My husband, who always helps me every Friday to pre-setup at the Amadio Ranch before the big day on Saturday at the Laveen Farmers Market – Thank you, Babe.
My lovely Girls Valentina and Marisa never leave me without stopping by at the Farmer’s Market every Saturday with my Husband. I love you guys! I wouldn’t do it without all of your constant support.
A credit to all of My Local Vendor Friends, always bring new ideas for our business and constantly support me by spreading the word of our small business JVM Munchkins to others who ask for referrals.
