We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Agnew and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laura, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
I think I provide a peaceful space for my son to grow up in ,I try not to bring the stress of my job into the home. I like to keep the mood pretty light so he always feels like he can come talk to me about anything , and have a chance to unwind , I try to make his home both comfortable emotionally and physically .

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I struggled wether to put this under artist creative or business , but really I guess its both . I have an interior design business , but really we create more of a lifestyle . We design ppls homes but its more than that , its party planning , wardrobe , art , pretty much anything , you need help with we have the resources . I like to deliver a turn key house if I can , and really get to know my client and anticipate what they might need , and I think that is what separates me from other design firms , my clients become friends and thats the best part of my job having those long term relationships . When I first started out I was terrified to be on my own , but the relationships I built with my clients is really the key to any success Ive had , if it wasn’t for any of them , and the lessons Ive learned from the,.the momentum would stop . I really don’t do any kind of advertising Its mainly just word of mouth ,so I really have to go the extra mile to make sure my clients are happy . Along the way I realized if I made a mistake I fix it , I own it and I fix it. I find a lot of ppl are so worried about accounting for every minute and billing , but I don’t sweat the small stuff and try to account for every minute , I’d rather have a beautiful outcome. The end product and a happy client is really my goal , Im not an extrovert and that can be challenging , Im not talking a lot but I am listening , and sometimes that doesn’t come off as friendly, and I don’t naturally look friendly , so thats something Im always working on . Truthfully Im not a very serious person , I like to have as much fun as possible along the way . I am in a position where I have an opportunity to talk to people who are very successful and by really getting to know them Ive really been able to learn some important things and had the opportunity to travel the world and build amazing homes .

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Mother is the person who I think inspired me to work hard , by watching her example and dedication and passion she took in doing her job , after she was divorced from my father she just embraced the situation and really made a place for herself . I used to think I was nothing like my Mom when I was younger but I see now where it came from , My husband is also a great support and inspiration for me , he really always has my back , and no matter where I travel I feel comfortable knowing he’s really anchoring things, And of course my friends the people I work ,with who have been really encouraging to me , and helped me to laugh or cry and overall get the job done . And my assistant , who is of course now a friend, its really difficult to find someone who you can trust , and makes sure you are organized , when you are working putting something together for 12 hours on your feet , its amazing to have someone who knows what you like and you can laugh through the pain.
