We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura LaMoure and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laura, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to build something that was my own, something that depended on how hard I worked that would determine either success or failure. Most of all I wanted to bring my idea to life, but in all honesty as well I wanted to build something that my daughter could call her own some day if she chose to. That’s why I chose the name Talia Tray Company after my daughter Natalia.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The thing I am most excited about with Talia Tray Company is you won’t find this kind of product anywhere else. Every tray that is made is worked by hand by myself. The surfaces of my trays are like nothing you have ever seen. I am also excited to be adding new products soon as well as offering full charcuterie and grazing tray services for any event big or small. Customers can choose to purchase one of our unique trays by itself or order their tray of choice for any event with a full spread of charcuterie or desserts for any event. It was definitely challenging to get to this point but in the end will be worth it. Business is ever changing, you have to figure out what works and what doesn’t. In our case we had to make a lot of changes in the last year to find out where our sweet spot was.
Talia Tray Company is a brand that has a passion for art and food. When people see my trays their initial reaction is a wow factor and now we want to take that to the next level. Imagine being at a party and picking some cheese and meats off of a tray and all of a sudden you spot a bright and bold pattern emerging. As people keep taking food off the tray it comes to life and reveals the amazing surprise waiting underneath. Even though we have our set color palette and sizes to chose from, no trays surface is ever the same but are all equally stunning.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Up here in Cave Creek we have some amazing little spots from dining to hiking. Local Jonny’s has the best Smoked Old Fashioned you will ever drink in your life with an amazing patio to listen to local live music as well. I would also take them over to Frontier Town which is conveniently within walking distance. Some of the cutest shops can be found there from candles to olive oils and local artist works. We definitely can’t forget to get dressed up and have dinner at Tonto Bar & Grill, the flavors of the food will blow your mind as well as their fresh Jalepeno Margarita. If you are a hiker you don’t want to miss out on Black Mountain, it’s a butt kicker and then head to 3 Regions Veitnamese for an incredible lunch with some good sake. There are so many little hidden gems in Cave Creek its fun to try them all. You don’t want to forget dessert either, Glazed Donuts makes some of the best unique flavored donuts around.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have seen first hand through my father what hard work and determination brings so the first Shoutout is to him. My second Shoutout is to the Greenflag program through MCC (Mesa Community College). Through this program I was able to get help starting my business from the ground, thanks Dan and Bob!
