We had the good fortune of connecting with Laurel Stavros and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laurel, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
I do not have an end goal for my career, I like to think I will be constantly pivoting and growing and am excited for whatever that may be and where I will end up. I started my business as a hobby and it evolved very quickly to an income generating blog, now that expanded to social media and now I do product styling. One of the exciting things in my creative career is I really do not know what is next and every project is different.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work is always exciting and every freelance job is different- it stretches my creative muscles. I am simply proud to find a way to turn my passions into a career. As for where I am today, I do not think any success story is easy and the path is long and difficult. Today there are so many blogs and influencers out there and a challenge is to stand out from the crowd. I’ve always thought be who you are, do not jump on a trend and no one else is you- that is everyone’s advantage. My challenges also were more personal- depression and PTSD that made it a struggle to work and stay focused. I decided to share my experiences with followers and thus grew a deeper connection with my readers and followers. I learned vulnerability and candidness can drive connections and create more loyalty to your business and a community.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ooh, this makes me miss leaving the house, lol! I would head to Virtu for dinner and go to The Scott Resort for drinks- I’m obsessed with the design at the resort . Uptown Farmer’s market on a Saturday morning after a hike (I have a couple favorites, hard to pick just one!) & I would pick up Mama’s Cold Brew right away! Also if Cloth and Flame was having one of their amazing events- it is a MUST attend.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely my husband, his encouragement and support has kept me going when I have wanted to give up. Strictly business speaking, I am in a small group with other influencers, we provide each other with answers, support and encouragement. My work is primarily online, so it can be lonely and not many people understand what I do, the group makes it feel less lonely!
