We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Ruettinger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, why did you pursue a creative career?
From a young age, I knew that I wanted a life that would be different from the normal “grown-up” jobs. Being in a creative career allows me a lot of things I only thought were dreams. Things like, working from home, having flexibility, and traveling were always ideals for me. With photography, these ideals are able to accompany the fun of being creative with a camera!

Also, being a creative allows me to explore more into passions. I love playing with colors and light. Experimenting is a fundamental part of being a creative and I love it!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Glitter & Happiness is mostly set apart within the photography industry by showcasing theme parks in a fun, timeless way.

One of the biggest challenges for me was allowing myself to take up space in this sphere. There are a lot of amazing people in any industry, especially in photography. However, I feel like if you keep showing up and you will make lasting connections while growing in your talent. It’s worth it to keep going!

I feel like I still have a long ways to go, but I am proud of Glitter & Happiness photography. Being a creative, you have to have a growth mindset; knowing challenges come, but you can grow through anything and everything.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am going rephrase this into a trip to Disneyland, as I am currently planning a trip this fall with my best friend!

The Disneyland you grew up going to has changed a lot in the last few years. I have done five trips to Disneyland in the last year and I love to discuss all the tips and tricks of it!

At Disneyland, make sure you try:
– A Red Raspberry Macaron from The Jolly Holiday Bakery
– Fish and Chips from Stage Door Cafe or Golden Horseshoe
– Blue and Green Milk from Galaxy’s Edge

And make sure you ride at least:
– Rise of the Resistance
– Pirates of the Caribbean
– Small World

I love to take the train around the park when it gets really hot or when I am tired of walking.

Over at Disney California Adventure, make sure you eat at Pym’s Test Kitchen. I have yet to eat something there that wasn’t amazing! I love the Not-So-Little Chicken Sandwich and the Potato bites.

Also, Avenger’s Campus is my favorite place to just relax. It does get warm and there are not a ton of shade options. However, the characters walk around often and you are bound to run into at least one character!

If you go in fall, make sure you see Cars Land decorated with all the fun, spooky decor. It is family-friendly, so kids won’t get scared!

My must rides at Disney California Adventure are Soarin’ around the World, Spider-Man Web Slingers and the Incredicoaster.

I talk a lot more about Disney parks and seasonal tips, tricks, and history over on my Instagram, as well!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Through out my photography journey and career, there has been a lot of supporters. There are too many to really dive into! My biggest supporter has always been my husband, Chad. He was the one who surprised me with my first camera and encourages me to pursue all my dreams!

Clearly, I draw a lot of inspiration from The Walt Disney Company. The way they bring storytelling to life in a way that connects us is truly inspirational.

Also, I love that social media expands our world! I have met a lot of amazing creators, clients, and brands through platforms like Instagram. I have looked up to fellow photographers and content creators, cheering them on along their own journeys.
