We had the good fortune of connecting with Laurie Dickman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laurie, what matters most to you?
Honesty and integrity matter to me most. I always treat my customers the way I would like to be treated. Weddings are personal and what I offer is a very personal service. I want my customers to know that everything they get from me is 100% truth and that it’s not just to “close the sale.”
What should our readers know about your business?
There are so many choices when it comes to how or where you can buy your bridal gown or special occasion gown from. However, there is no one who is going to deliver the experience you deserve like Laurie‘s Bridal. I’ve spent nearly 30 years in the bridal industry, working for an International Bridal and Headpiece Designer, then as a wholesale manufacturer’s representative and now, as a bridal boutique owner. At my boutique, you don’t get a new, inexperienced or disinterested stylist, I personally take care of each of my clients. With that, you receive my wealth of experience and information. When I first opened it was only me because I was new, now it has become my niche. Customers purchase from me because I’ve earned their trust and respect. They know experience is emotional and I know how to navigate around that and embrace it. I’m not the store to come play around in and I don’t offer hundreds of bridal gowns. My handpicked selection of gowns are a perfectly balanced selection of trendy, timeless and affordable. I’m the store you come to when you want to have an amazing, personalized experience, find a gorgeous gown and leave without any regrets. As we navigate around this new normal, one thing remains the same, I still tell my brides, when choosing your bridal gown, be true to who they are. They may only be wearing it for a day, but their pictures will last a lifetime.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One week with my bestie? What a funfilled week that would be! So many things to do and all so much fun. I’d love to chill at The Creek Patio Grill and just catch up first. Then maybe head up to Sedona and get some breakfast at the Red Rock Cafe, swim at Slide Rock then head to Flagstaff. I love walking in downtown Flagstaff. We’d shop at all of the local mom and pop shops in downtown Flagstaff and grab some burgers at Diablo Burgers. Then in the morning, we’d head to see the Grand Canyon. Truly one of the most magnificent national parks I have ever seen, even though I have a terrible fear of heights. You certainly won’t catch me on the skywalk, but it does look pretty cool! Heading back down to Phoenix, we’d stop at the shops at Anthem and do some outlet shopping, we are women after all! We’d grab dinner at Tommy’s Place, We can sit and “tawk New Yawk” all day long and enjoy some delicious Italian food and happy hour cocktails. Stopping at Scottsdale Quarter/Kierland is a lot of fun too. I think a mini staycation might be in order, so we can just lounge at a pool and hang out. Maybe at the Pointe Hilton or the Royal Palms? Can’t let her go back to the East Coast without taking her out to Fountain Hills to see the fountain!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have learned as an adult to surround myself with like minded people, both personally and professionally. Having a wonderful network of friends, family and professionals, both in and out of the wedding industry, all over the world is fantastic, They all contribute to my successes since they are all part of my support system. If I could choose to dedicate my shoutout, it would be to my family. We’ve been through a lot and as my kids are now getting older and finding their own professional paths, at the end of the day, it’s always going to be us, as a family. My husband and I just celebrated out 25th wedding anniversary. Marriage and business are very similar, there’s going to be ups and downs, but it’s how we handle them that make us who we are.
