We had the good fortune of connecting with Lavelle Smith Hall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lavelle Smith, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
MOMLogics™ is a maternal wellness company that supports Black moms in their busy, overwhelmed lives. We do this through community, coaching, technology, and media to help them become successful in their parenting and personal health and wellness journey.

What should our readers know about your business?
About MOMLogics

At MOMLogics™, the is personal. We recognize the overwhelm that many Black moms face, especially those who lead as entrepreneurs, in management, or as C-suite executives. We serve moms and Black women with a unique approach, one that is culturally relevant, intentional, and empathetic.

What sets up apart?

MOMLogics™ knows that the load is heavy, filled with anxiety and stress that takes a physical, emotional, and mental toll on moms and Black women. Our team has empathy for this struggle. We aim to support our clients so they no longer suffer in silence or feel the need to play “superwoman” at home or in the workplace. When a Black female asks, “Who else can understand what I’m going through as a Black woman, mom or leader?” Our response is simple, “MOMLogics™ understands because as a supportive community of Black moms and women, we are just like you.”

As a Black mom of two, I relate to the MOMLogics™ community because I am her. It was tragedy and loss that inspired the idea of MOMLogics. After losing a dear friend who had a massive heart attack in 2018, I found out later she had not revealed to many the extent of her health challenges. Later it became clear to me that as Black moms, we suffer silently often refusing to care for ourselves. Additionally, through the loss of my mom, aunts, and many friends who died prematurely, I witnessed the huge vacuum left when a mom passes away, and it inevitably creates a grieving ripple effect for everyone involved.

What do we want the world to know about us?

Moms are the heart of MOMLogics. Focused on maternal health and wellness, our goal is for moms, particularly Black moms, to thrive in all aspects of their lives. Information to help make better choices. New parenting strategies to help redefine her motherhood journey. Supportive community without judgment. She can do better. She can evolve. We can help.

How did we get to where we are today?

Our MOMLogics team. They know the struggle of moms because they live it every day. Whether related to health, finances, careers, business endeavors, or just the challenges of parenting, mothering is hard. We believe no one knows a Black mom like another Black mom. We understand the need to support one another when the world turns away. We provide the very support that will allow us all to live a healthier, stress-less life.

What am I most proud of?

I’m proud of our growing community of over 6K moms and validating the need for emotional and mental wellness during a pandemic. We built a community because we started with our own stories. Plus, securing partnerships with organizations like Allstate Corporation and Penn State University while working with college interns to develop an AI mobile app prototype within a year brings tears to my eyes. To date, our biggest accomplishment is receiving grant and sponsorship funding of over $164K.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Phoenix, so for me, a spa, dinner, and music would be on our week-long agenda. As a visitor myself, I would want to hit up some locals to give us more details for the week.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My children, Alec and Braelyn, for blessing me with the title of “mother”. I could not, and would not be who I am at this stage in my life — personally or professionally without them. It’s amazing how much you can grow from unconditional love!

My partners, Vickie and Erica, for being two of the dopest, most loyal, authentic, and committed women (and mothers) on this planet. They have shaped me, carried me, and held me in this space of womanhood, sisterhood, and motherhood like no other.

Of course the moms in our MOMLogics community for their belief, faith, and love in (and for) the vision of MOMLogics. They are truly MOMazing — in and outside of their homes, families, and communities.

Last, but not least, Kathy aka “my Godmother”. She has effortlessly and lovingly supported every single, idea, brand, business or opportunity that I’ve ever entertained. Without fail, when I say, “Let’s” she says, “Go!”.
