We had the good fortune of connecting with Leah Wolin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Working in private practice as a therapist was a dream I’ve had for many years. When I began my own personal healing journey, and started to learn so many things that I had never known about, and learned that healing IS possible, I felt this deep desire and calling to pass on what I was learning to others. As I started to get to know myself on a deeper level and discover my true value and essence, I became passionate about helping others find that same thing within themselves.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist. I work as a therapist with adults dealing with all kinds of challenges with a special focus on women survivors of trauma. I am especially passionate about helping moms, as well as survivors of narcissistic abuse, sexual abuse, and religious trauma. Getting to where I am today was not easy, I put myself through graduate school as a young mom with 6 children, while going through a divorce, and healing from my own traumas. I doubted myself and my dreams countless times. I’ve considered giving up more than once. The belief that others have in me, and the belief I have in the work I am doing and in myself keep me on this path, and I am so glad I didn’t listen to the inner voices of self- doubt! What sets me apart from others is that I have lived experience with the work that I do. I know what it’s like to be in a living hell, I know what it’s like to feel worthless and hopeless. And I know what it feels like to be on the other side of all those things. My message to others is don’t give up on yourself or on life. Your past shapes you but doesn’t define you. There is always hope. You have a shining light inside of you, and although it may feel dim at times, it is always there. You deserve all the good life has to offer. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. It’s the biggest gift you can give yourself and you deserve it!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh so many places! I would definitely go on a hike every day. My favorite trail is Two Bit Peak at 40th and Shea. I might take them to Water Wheel Falls in Payson, another favorite of mine, or to some hidden trails in Sedona. Yoga at my studio is a must too. We will satisfy our sugar craving at Yogurtini, and then get some food at Milk and Honey or Kitchen 18. If they’re brave, we would go cold plunging. Maybe catch a good comedy or concert too! We’d unwind from our day getting cozy with some books or watching a movie!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
It’s nearly impossible for me to name just one person who has helped me get to where I am today!
To name just a few- my very first therapist Robin Shaoul- who taught me to use my voice, Kristen Radke, who taught me to trust myself, my first massage therapist, Meli Leon, from the Nurtured Mama- who taught me that touch can be safe, Willow House at the Meadows, where I learned to love my inner child, 12-step groups, where I learned the power of community and about a loving Higher Power. Rhonda, from Even Being, who teaches me to stay in my body, EvolvedMD- especially Sarah Hanchett, Alicia Shipman, and Allison Musser- who believed in me and encouraged me from the day we met, my friends, who have stood by me and held me up through the best and worst of times, my family, where I learned the importance of acceptance and safe connection, my kids, who teach me about patience and unconditional love, my clients who teach me about incredible strength and resilience, my yoga instructors who teach me the magic of breath, and Amy Diamondstein, from Surya Yoga, who reminds me every day to live my truth, love myself, and connect to my inner light.
