We had the good fortune of connecting with Leobardo Reynaga Jr. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leobardo, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have always loved creating whether it’s by music, drawing or writing. I always thought it was amazing when an artist took an empty canvas and painted with intense emotion and depth, just a screenshot from another world that can tell an entire story. Derezzed From Time is a solo project that I first started when I was in between bands, eventually I got tired of bands failing time and time again that I decided it was time to pursue my solo project more heavily. Music is what I enjoy the most because you can tell a story with your words and your music videos. I like to make the listener think more rather than just take everything for face value. Double entendres are so much fun with music.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I first started Derezzed From Time, the music was solely based off Edm music and mixing tracks; completely electronic. I always grew bored of it since I mainly wanted to be a singer in a metal band. Which is why naturally I sharpened different skills that I was exposed to since I would try out bands with genres ranging from Punk, Black Metal and Progressive Metal. These different bands were a lot of fun but at the end of the day you have to accept that not everyone is going to agree on the direction of the music or where the band plans to be in a few years. Long story short I decided to try it out myself as a solo artist mixing electronic music inspired by Edm and hip hop mixed with harsh punk/metal vocals. Derezzed From Time turned into something that’s hard to look away from since you never really know what to expect next. Some songs sound more Pop, some more metal and some more electronic. My first two albums were concept albums with lyrics telling the story of falling in love/ heartbreak/ revenge and where I am now. This next album is more chaos with hip hop vibes. I grew up idolizing Marilyn Manson, not just for the music but for how every album has its own tone. The shock rock from his looks to his lyrics and most certainly the music videos. Videography mixed with music is one of the coolest things on the earth. It can give the simplest lyrics deeper meaning which is why I’ve created so many videos these last 2 years. 2023 there will be more with entirely different concepts and tone. I’m really excited to be working on this next album set to be released later this year in October.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Tucson is a great place to come visit for all the hole in the wall restaurants and bars, just be sure to find some shade in the summer time. A trip up to Mt. Lemmon is always close by and a quick release from the summer heat. The Desert Museum is awesome to check out to see what could be living in your very own backyard in the Sonoran Desert. If that’s not enough check out Seven Falls, a trail off of Tanque Verde with a gorgeous water fall at the end. I love taking my buddies to The Rock or even The Edge Bar to check out the local talent in the music scene. So much diversity from one street to the next.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to thank my cousin Victor, even though when we tried starting a band together and it didn’t work out he still saw something in me that no one else did. He was my first videographer and he helped kickstart me into something I didn’t even know I was capable of. Johnny Arson, a local rapper and beat maker, helped me create my second album and is now recording my third. I learned through him how to keep digging deep down within myself to find out what I was truly capable of. Thank you to everyone who has seen this project from the beginning and helped support this dream to get me where I am today. It’s like a everblooming flower and it’s beautiful.
