We had the good fortune of connecting with Linda Friedman and Becky Sale and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Linda and Becky, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
We love this question!

Lots of things make us happy but there are two that top our list every day: preparing healthy, delicious food and being with the people we love. We’re sisters who come from a very large family where both our parents loved cooking. The heart of the house was always the kitchen where there was an abundance of good food, companionship and laughter!

For us, happy comes from powering our bodies with plant-based, whole foods that make us feel good, like our hemp CBD infused snacks. It also comes from
the joyful, therapeutic and creative time spent testing recipes, preparing meals and sharing with those we love.

We started Just Happy Foods to share our healthy, plant-based snacks with a larger community. We know that eating well is the foundation for living well and we can’t wait to help you snack a little happier.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We’re proud of the ingredients we choose to fill each bag of Just Happy Foods hemp CBD granolas and nut mixes. All of our ingredients have been thoughtfully selected for optimum health benefits and carefully sourced for minimum impact on the environment.

By far, the most enriching part of working in the natural food and wellness industries, specifically within the organic hemp CBD community, has been the passionate, knowledgeable and authentic people we’ve met along the way. We’ve learned from and worked with farmers, scientists, recipe developers and distributors who for decades have immersed themselves in understanding and utilizing the benefits of plant-based compounds with the common goal of normalizing the use of CBD.

Aside from knowing the snacks we offer are enhancing the health, happiness and wellbeing of our customers, we’re really excited to be building a business together as sisters. It’s a dream we talked about for years and it’s incredibly special that we’re now living that dream!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We love supporting local businesses and especially restaurants that offer local, organic and sustainable ingredients. We’d definitely share these favorite restaurants with our friend: FnB, Persepshen, 24 Carrots, The Coronado PHX, ChopShop, Sweet Republic for ice cream, and Kaleidoscope Juice.

A visit to the Desert Botanical Garden, Heard Museum, and the MIM and then shopping at Frances, The Frederick, and Strawberry Hedgehog are a must. We’d definitely go hiking at South Mountain, Pinnacle Peak Park, and McDowell Sonoran Preserve. Being big farmers market fans, the week wouldn’t be complete without stops at Uptown and Old Town Scottsdale Farmers Market.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We’re so fortunate to have an endless supply of support, encouragement, mentorship and love all wrapped up in our Grandmother, Mom and Dad. Individually and as a whole they were a brain trust of business knowledge who owned and operated small businesses, all founded by women.

For all three, the kitchen was the heart of the house. They welcomed us in and encouraged us to be a part of this productive gathering place filled with storytelling, love, laughter, recipes and lots of food to feed a large network of family and friends.
