We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Daversa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lisa, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe the most important factor behind our success is our commitment to Customer Service. Everyone says that, but not many know how to really offer unparalleled service. We know that when a woman walks into our shop she is about to enter one of the most memorial moments of her life. We are more than just sales people. We become their friends, their confidante. When their friends are tired of hearing about their wedding- We can’t get enough. We curate designers and couture gowns based on the knowledge that these beautiful gowns are for a client. We don’t order from the designer under a number, we use the clients last name so that those designers know how important they are.
We have never missed a wedding in 24 years because we are willing to go above and beyond expectations. We will do what it takes to insure that the gown comes in timely and that it fits them perfectly on their wedding date.
Many retail institutions have lost sight of the art of service, We have not- We cultivate an experience, a cherished memory, a Masterpiece.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I discussed earlier that our Service is what sets us apart. Destiny’s opened 24 years ago in June 1997. We got to where we are by hard work and determination. I would need to write a book for all the lessons that I have learned as I had no experience in the industry until I opened. I think it did set us apart as I was doing it differently than any one else. I was never someone who would stay within the box, never venturing outside of the “sameness” that most do. It was not easy. At that time it was hard to find a banker for a loan that understood it. I tried three times to get a loan, and when I found a female loan officer, I was finally able to get the loan that was necessary to open. By offering Service rarely seen I proceeded to succeed rapidly. I took no days off, and worked for years without even thinking of taking a day, as well as taking care of a 1 year old child.. Through caring so much for my brides, a lot of sweat and toil, I was able to push through to being the one and only Couture store in the State with exclusives on many of the designers who’s gowns I curate.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit I would take her to Country Thunder again. If she came when it wasn’t happening we would head up to the peace and tranquility of Sedona or Payson. Perhaps Dinner at Oceans 44 would be in order!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would not be here without the employees, throughout the years, who have made Destiny’s Bride the one and only Couture store in the State with Customers. All of them are good friends of Mine- Seamstresses and Sales Associates alike.
