Meet Lolly Nissan | Marriage and Family Therapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lolly Nissan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lolly, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
After 17 years in the classroom and raising four kids, I took a leap at 38 and pursued my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. I know what it feels like to stand at the edge of change—uncertain, scared, and wondering if the risk is worth it. And I also know the exhilaration of stepping into your truth and finding your footing, even through the inevitable stumbles.
That’s the heart of my work with clients: creating a safe space to explore, grow, and take leaps of your own. Because therapy isn’t about having it all figured out—it’s about discovering what’s possible when you give yourself permission to try. As poet Erin Hanson wrote, “What if I fall? Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?”

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At the heart of therapy is safety—the feeling of being seen, supported, and accepted without judgment. As a therapist, I believe I can only offer that to clients if I’ve created it for myself first. For some clinicians, that may mean working in a clinic or focusing solely on the therapy room. For me, it meant building my practice from the ground up, with the two most brilliant, wise and safest humans I know. By surrounding myself with supportive colleagues, creating a cozy, welcoming space, and taking ownership of the behind-the-scenes work, we’ve created an environment where we can all practice with freedom, integrity, calmness and a deep sense of belonging, which I know spills over to our clients.
When we know we are held and supported, we can show up and hold and support others. Creating our own practice allowed us to show up and be fully present with clients —and to offer flexibility, understanding, and care that meets you where you are. Just as healing requires courage, safety requires intention. And that’s what we’ve built into every corner of our practice, so clients can feel grounded enough to do the work of healing and growing.
I think the environment that our practice offers is evident the moment you walk into our office. The energy of healing, growth and movement from both clients and clinicians is so palpable. It feels incredible to create a bubble in our busy, chaotic society where we’re not scared to look at the messier parts of ourselves and can find the courage to jump in and make changes.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ahh, I wish I had advice here. I’m simply so boring. I go to work, I go home, I go to the gym, I sometimes get coerced into going to hot yoga which I regret instantly every time. I can tell you the hot grocery store locations (obviously Trader Joe’s, all day every day.) Let’s move to the next question – my lack of answers here is actually making me feel like an embarrassment.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I could not have jumped off the ledge into this new chapter of life without the unwavering support of my husband and 4 kids. They have been my biggest cheerleaders, even when it means pizza for dinner again! And to my two colleagues – Erin and Shelley, who are neck and neck with my husband when it comes to top tier quality soulmates.
