Meet Lorde Astor West | Venture Builder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lorde Astor West and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lorde Astor, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Relationships.
Building relationships with my clients and having a genuine interest in them, their business, and solving their problems to the very best of my ability.
The average lifespan of my dev shop customers was around 8+ years.
Because of the relationships that I built with my clients I was able to create a successful business from the ground up, on its profits, and was 100% referral based by year two.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What makes us different
The most significant differentiator is my ability to see ahead, successfully build towards, and meet the future with products that solve real business problems and make people’s lives exponentially better.
How did I get to where I am today business-wise
I got to where I am today with extreme perseverance, patience, and the desire to provide the best possible experience for my customers no matter what.
Was it easy?
No, there’s nothing easy about starting a business from the ground up without experience, capital, or commitment from a team. Building something from scratch and pulling yourself up by your bootstraps is a task that is not for the faint of heart. Of which 92% of fail. Being successful past ten years in business is a likely as going to the moon.
How did I overcome challenges?
Where there is a will there is a way. If you have the desire and you do all things possible to the end you will be successful in anything that you do. It takes a tremendous degree of resolve and commitment to keep moving the needle.
The lessons I’ve learned along the way are:
If you want people to follow you have to lead
People need direction and also need space
Hold yourself and people accountable
What do I want people to know about my brand?
That I am not a brand at all. I am an identity, a person, not a carefully crafted or manufactured semblance of what I think people want me to be.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Day one, Monday
Pick up at Sky Harbor then shoot over on the 143 to Arcadia for a nice lunch at Postino or the Royal Palm
For the evening we’ll pick up a free yoga class at Moutain Shadow and then grab a $5 Presceco and a few apps in the sunken living room. Then off to the Little Woody for industry night and a game of pool.
Day two, Tuesday
We will take an early morning walk along Piestawa Peak Reserve,
Since we need to get a little work in we’ll head over to Schmooze in Old Town for breakfast and meetings
Lunch we’ll walk across the canal, taking the long route to check out the art installations, and then to Olive and Ivey for the best Tuna Sandwiches
Dinner is takeout and chill with George Yangs
Day three – Wednesday
An early morning trip to Watson Lake near Prescott for some Kayaking fun
Then head over to Whiskey Row for Bourbon, and Tacos | El Toro
Montezuma’s castle to check out the museum and cliff dwellings
Dinner will be a home-cooked BBQ with meat we pick up from Hobe Meats
Day four – Thursday
We take it easy in the morning. Grabbing a cinnamon roll and chai tea at Lucy’s Orchard
In the afternoon, We park the car at the light rail and take it downtown to the Phoenix Art Museum
Then grab the light rail and head further downtown to catch a Suns Game.
Day five – Friday
It’s back to the Sky Harbor with a quick stop at Joe’s Diner for breakfast
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband.
Being in partnership with a serial entrepreneur is not easy he supports every endeavor with the same level of enthusiasm and resolve regardless of the size, scale, or seemingly impossibility of the mission.
My family
My family is my biggest cheerleader and first investor. They believed in me long before I set out to build the empire that I did and have never been detractors of my vision. They realize that if I put my mind to the task that “come hell or high water” I will find a way.
My investor team
Many members of my investment team invested in my projects before they met me. They believed in the power of the mission, the presentation, and my ability to achieve the goal with a level of faith equaled only by religion. I would not be here without their support and guidance.
