We had the good fortune of connecting with Madiey Vasquez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Madiey, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
I value my yoga classes by keeping a traditional practice as much as I can. I want to keep appreciation, not appropriation with yoga. It’s not just a physical practice, the asana is just 1/8 of the whole picture. My classes appreciates the sanskrit language, meditation, and chanting. Holding mindfulness through out the entire practice. Also guiding people to be more connected to their bodies. I keep yoga principles and philosophy in my classes.
India is such a sacred place, it’s teachings should definitely be appreciated and respected.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am proud of all the things I have learned from my teachers. I have so many tools that I use to bring transformational experiences that transforms lives. I offer relaxation techniques, meditations, one on one and group classes. I always keep my classes as traditional as I can. I am also apart of the lgbtq, and BIPOC communities.
I also teach with a trauma aware method that helps start the healing process that our body naturally does. Trauma has effected so many lives, and all traumas are validated. I had an adverse childhood, and experienced intimate trauma. Yoga has been a big part of my healing journey. I wouldn’t be where I am today because of Yoga.
Yoga is for any body who wants and is willing to practice. Yoga meets you where you are in your life. Everyone should experience a traditional Yoga class once in their lives. It does so much for so many.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Southwest Institute of Healing Arts is where I learned all of my teachings and they are the ones who made me into the facilitator I am today. They have my love and respect. They deserve a LOT of credit. Amazing school.
