We had the good fortune of connecting with Madison Fisher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Madison, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have always loved creating and being an artist, but what made me want to pursue a creative career was when I noticed how much joy it brought to the people around me. Several years ago, I couldn’t decide on gifts to give my family during special occasions, so I decided to just hand make their gifts instead. I spent a lot of time making things that would be meaningful to each person. Everytime I gave someone a product I made, they would always light up and say “you made that?” That is my favorite thing. Their excitement of not only having something new, but something I put time and effort into made me want to keep creating.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am fairly new to the realm of selling art, but I have been creating for a long time. What I feel like sets my art apart is that I make a lot of pieces out of ideas my close friends and family and I come up with. Usually we will start talking about fun things I could make and we all just keep adding to the vision, and then eventually take that and create something unique. I love seeing their reactions to the final product, because it’s not only something I created but something they get to be a part of too. One of the best lessons I learned was that art can have so much meaning, not just to the artist but also to the viewers. I create for myself all the time, but I have to say I enjoy creating for other people more, especially when it’s something we imagined together.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My go to local place for breakfast is Brandy’s, so I would one hundred percent recommend going there first. They have such good coffee and food and a great atmosphere with local art displayed. After that we would probably go walk around downtown and visit some of my favorite stores like PJ Chilcottage, or Crystal Magic. Flagstaff is so beautiful, and there are so many trails to enjoy so I would definitely suggest a hike or walk at some point, most likely at Buffalo Park, the views are stunning. I also would highly recommend we go to the Deer Farm or Bearizona, who doesn’t love getting to walk or drive around surrounded by beautiful animals?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My biggest supporter is my husband, Drake Fisher. He has always encouraged me to continue creating because he can tell how much I love it and how happy it makes me. He is always so excited to show off what I’ve made to anyone who will listen. I can genuinely tell how proud he is of the work I do. I also have to give a shout out to my cat Pigeon. She is the inspiration to my store name, and she approves all the products I make. Sometimes it takes her a while to approve them, usually I get some sass, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Her personality makes me what to add more personality to my art.
