We had the good fortune of connecting with Malka Rodal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Malka, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I always knew that I wanted to work out of my home. I’m the type of person that thrives when I’m busy. I was 22, married and pregnant with my first daughter. I was working an office job. I was on the hunt to try to find where my passions lay. I spent time on university websites looking at all the different degrees.I I didn’t really find anything that spoke to me. My sister called me one day and she said – why don’t you become a Professional Organizer? I couldn’t believe that was a real profession. It was literally me. I knew that was where my passions lay. Now it’s different doing something you love and turning it into an actual business. To be honest, I had no idea what I was doing. But through alot of maturing and realizing the only way to do what I love is by running the business too and hiring help to do the things that are less fun and neccessary for me to take on.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
This is my favorite question! I am mom to 5 kiddos that range from toddler to teenage. The role of a mom is complex. There’s so many roles she plays and it’s hard to wear all the hats and also run a home smoothly. As a Mom + Professional Organizer I am passionate about helping busy moms experience the joy of motherhood without the clutter. I enjoy teaching my clients easy ways to maintain the organization in their home.

It was not easy getting to where I am. I definitely have not had it easy with this business. But what I found the secret for growth is in hiring a coach. Someone who can look in from the outside and see where changes need to be made to bring about the growth you want to see. I also learned that business growth very much coincides with personal growth. We give off what we feel inside. So it’s important to really look within and see where you are coming from when you are responding to clients.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ok so for starters I would tell them to come in the winter months because that is when we love living in AZ 🙂 I’m all for nature and being outside in the cooler weather. So I would say a hike. Piestewa peak is right in my backyard so that’s a great place to start. For something with a great view and if you have kids with you – Hole in the Rock is a great option too.
Being that I keep a Kosher diet it makes travel and dining out a little more interesting. We don’t have as many options but the ones we have are definitely quality.
Pizza – La Bella in Phoenix. They have great pastas as well.
In Scottsdale there are 2 restaurants that I love. 1 is more meditranian – Fata Morgana. The other has a bit of meditranian and Chinese – Kitchen 18.

I love to shop and there are beautiful places to shop here. I love Scottsdale Quarter and Last Chance is where I take all my people.

I recently went on a date with my husband to Putt Shack and we really liked that too.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout has to be my husband. I don’t mean to sound cliche, but he’s the guy who’s had my back and encouraged me to continue when I wanted to give up. (Yes the business side is THAT hard.) It is a real big deal to me that I have someone like him in my corner supporting me and cheering me on!
