We had the good fortune of connecting with Marissa Mazziotti and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marissa, what do you attribute your success to?
I truly believe the most important factor behind our success and the success of our agency is that we hold helping others and making a real impact on people to the highest regard every day. I am not saying that to be cheesy or cliche because that is what you’re supposed to say. When I first got into business for myself, it was about me, as it is for most people. Let’s be honest here- I wanted to control my time, my schedule and have uncapped income based only on how hard I work- but very quickly I became addicted to the grind, I became addicted to helping our clients and putting families in a better spot than when I found them and I fell in love with empowering other people to believe that they DO deserve more. They deserve to be a business owner. They deserve to take care of their family in ways they didn’t think they could. They deserve to be paid what they’re worth while controlling their schedule and time. They should take a risk on themselves and stop letting people take advantage of their work ethic, We genuinely love what we do in terms of our clients, and we genuinely love being able to share a new opportunity in an industry that many people are not familiar with. I wake up every day not wondering how much money I can make in business, I wake up everyday asking myself, who can I help grow today? Who can I get to make more for THEM? Who can I impact? The key to our success is that we can never lose that fire, because there will always be more people to help. When money drives you, you burn out when you have enough of it. When passion drives you, you can never stop.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are a team of independent life insurance brokers that work to protect as many middle American families as possible. We are partnered with over 20 A+ rated life insurance carriers so we can help every client – old, young, healthy, not healthy, term policy, whole life, investments, you name it. We specialize in simplified issue life insurance – no medical exams or lengthy approval process. Our clients love us because we are not salespeople & we don’t need to push one product. We genuinely want to find the best coverage for your family and your budget.

In combination with helping families – we help people find the life insurance industry and show them what it can create for their own family. Why do you never hear about the industry being a lucrative career option? Well, because historically companies pay their agents way too little and only care about the people at the top getting rich. We have created a model where everybody can be successful if they work hard. Our commission is higher than anybody in the industry and our culture is the best. We want people to win, we want people to make an impact and get paid what they are worth at the same time. We want people to own their own book of business that nobody can take from them. I started out just me, nervous and skeptical a year and a half. Now – our agency has 250+ writing agents who are thriving.

The biggest lesson I have learned is that I do deserve MORE and so do you – the person reading this. I grew up in a family where lack of financial security controlled us. Nobody talked about making six figures because we didn’t think it was possible. I looked at opportunities as “out of my reach” or “I could never do that.” Not anymore. I have learned that if you put your head down and grind every day and actually care about doing right by people, you can create whatever you want. Take a risk on yourself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have lived in Arizona for about 6 years now, which means there is still so much for me to explore myself. Some of my favorite things about the Phoenix valley are that you can find something for everybody to enjoy. It’s outdoorsy enough to go on a hike at Camelback in the morning, big enough that there are major sports teams you can go watch, and artsy enough for the more chill person that loves to go to museums or check out the historical places downtown. For me, I am very active and I am a FOODIE. I would take my friend to a variety of local coffeeshops to work and grab a bite and probably to a sports game or a hike.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
None of this would be remotely possible by myself and any entrepreneur that says they did it completely on their own is a little selfish if you ask me. It takes a team to build any business, a team of hardworking people who care about helping others, a team that is willing to sacrifice with you for a while to get where they need to be, staff, a support system of positive people who tell you they believe in you even if they actually think you’re crazy at the time. I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to the independent agents within our agency that go out every day and put others’ families needs first and care deeply about sharing the opportunity that we have been blessed to have.
