We had the good fortune of connecting with McKenzie Kelly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi McKenzie, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Define Beauty Medspa is a Medical Aesthetic business created on the focus of helping others find their inner and outer beauty. My patients come see me knowing that I will guide them with honest and achievable skincare goals to help them find their most beautiful and confident versions of themselves. Over the 13+ years I have been treating Aesthetic patients, I have seen my patient’s lives transform and blossom when they gain confidence within themselves. With that confidence, they are more likely to spread happiness and share their gifts and creativity with the world, making this world a better place.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I moved to Arizona at the age of 18 from a small town in Illinois with a dream of opening my own Aesthetic business. It has taken me 13 years to finally do so, but I am thankful I took the path I did. I have worked in many different types of Aesthetic businesses including Dermatology, Medical Spas, and as an Aesthetic/Laser Instructor. I have had the opportunity to gain extensive education on various complex skin conditions, treatments, and technologies. I have worked in fast-paced corporate medical spas, luxurious, upscale aesthetic offices, and dermatology medically-focused environments.

At Define Beauty Medspa, I have taken a little piece of each experience and created a business that provides my patients the ability to achieve their goals in a comfortable, clean, environment. I am committed and passionate about continuing my education. I will always provide my patients with the highest level of education and technologies available.

I am also excited to start offering Advanced Training classes to Licensed Aestheticians through Define Beauty Medspa. These classes will be available for any Licensed Aesthetician that wants to learn more advanced techniques and business practices within the Aesthetic field. The course will include an online class series and the option to train in person with myself and a live model. I am excited to share the knowledge I have gained with my fellow Aesti’s. This course will be available to any Aesthetician within the US.

My life motto and one I learned along my career path is; “behind every face, a story lies within.” You never know what others are going through or how you may be able to change their lives in a positive way. My patients have shared their life stories, challenges, insecurities, and achievements with me. With each face I meet, I have learned to never judge, always be open to learning and gaining from what they are sharing with you and the world. Again, I am truly honored to be trusted by so many.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would definitely go kayaking on the Salt River. You can’t beat the beauty of our desert and lakes. Of course, while wearing tons of sunscreens and hats! Then, we would go eat and drink in Central Phoenix popping around to all the fun local restaurants. I personally love the Cucumber Serrano Margarita from Joyride! After that, find some live music to dance to. Most likely at Copper Blues in Downtown Phoenix.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I want to thank my parents for always supporting me and encouraging me to follow my dreams.

I have had many amazing mentors over my years in practice including some of the top Physicians, Plastic Surgeons, Dermatologist, and Aesthetic providers in the field. With each experience, I have gained extensive knowledge of the aesthetic business and practices. I am thankful for each and every one of you.
