We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan McManus and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
For years I was working in the corporate world, and dreaded the future I saw for myself. Same grind every day, over and over until I retire? I couldn’t do that to myself. Covid happened, and like many others, I was let go. Instead of looking for another job, I decided to pursue my real passion of being a florist, and designing flowers for events & weddings. I started in floristry back in my teens at the local grocery store, and fell in love with everything about it, so I always told myself when I retire I would open my own floral shop.. turns out “retiring” happened in my mid 20’s and it was more of a catapult into running my own business, enjoying my family time more, and having the freedom to create beautiful art for a living . Best decision of my life, 10/10 would recommend ✨

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Our design approach is intentionally creating a cohesive and impactful space that is a reflection of the essence and energy of the couple’s. The most wonderful humans gravitate to us at Fleur de Vie, and I’m just so honored to be a part of their world. Being a “new” florist in this wedding industry has been incredibly humbling, and navigating through this world has been challenging, to say the least. When challenges come up, I just keep pushing on, and know I’m on the right path in life. I’ve learned that having other friends in the industry (especially other florists) is a MUST to get through it all, because we all understand the nuances here and can support each other during hard times. It’s a collaborative energy here, and so much fun to create with each other to make these beautiful weddings and events happen.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband has been a huge supporter of me starting my floral business. I’m so grateful for his encouragement and support along the way. Time means everything to us, so being able to work on our own schedule, and spending time with our kids is honestly all we could ask for in life.
