We had the good fortune of connecting with Naomy Chirita and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Naomy, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I envisioned and envisioned my business from a maternal perspective. I’d often sit for long hours, engrossed in playing and observing my children as they acquired various skills. Engaging with toys and assisting them in reaching developmental milestones became a routine. I’d analyze the toys they were drawn to and those that contributed most to their learning. My goal was to craft something that would delight and educate other children, prioritizing top-notch quality and earthy colors.

What should our readers know about your business?
Lytl isn’t simply a toy brand to me—it’s a gateway to make learning an enjoyable journey for children, embracing the Montessori learning style. Typically, learning isn’t seen as fun; it’s often perceived as mandatory. When kids engage with toys, they can either revel in playtime joy or feel frustrated. My aim is for parents to grasp that the quantity of toys isn’t what fosters their children’s development. It’s about simplicity. Loud, bothersome toys or endless baskets of new ones aren’t necessary; creativity and imagination are the keys!

What distinguishes me is our toys’ versatility, effectiveness, and quality. I’ve emphasized quality, earthy neutral tones, and toys designed for multiple uses. Moreover, we donate 10% of our sales to families or children in need. We believe in lending a hand to less fortunate children and families who are facing challenges.

Entering this business demanded an immense amount of effort, determination, and resilience. I encountered hurdles with manufacturers, shipping, and relocating warehouses. Running a one-person business while being a mother is incredibly demanding. However, my family will always be my priority—they’re my motivation. Despite the challenges, I’ve conquered goals, continuously learned, and nurtured big dreams. I trust that God has guided me this far and will continue to do so.

I’ve learned that sometimes you simply need to take risks, keep learning, and persist toward your objectives. Amidst the uncertainties of motherhood, I took a leap, and it transformed me in ways I never imagined possible. This business has shown me my potential and how much I’m capable of achieving.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were in town, I’d eagerly show her around our city or take a scenic drive to the mountains. Naturally, our first stop would be for coffee, followed by a delightful brunch and a stroll with the kids. I cherish simple pleasures, and catching up while the kids play on a playground sounds perfect to me.

I’m a down-to-earth person, but certain things matter—a good cup of coffee, delightful food, and quality time together. The breathtaking mountain views or the charming city where I spent my college days evoke a rush of memories from life before motherhood. Those moments were about relishing life and indulging in delicious French pastries.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
All credit goes to my husband! He’s been my unwavering pillar of support, my top cheerleader. While I dedicated myself to nurturing our boys before launching Lytl, he worked tirelessly to provide for our family. His financial backing and unyielding belief in my dreams never wavered. He’s not just my encourager and prayer warrior, but also the glue that holds me together during moments of exhaustion, enabling me to continue pursuing my aspirations.
