We had the good fortune of connecting with Nataliya Solace and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nataliya, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It was terrifying! Unfortunate circumstances made me change my career drastically. Being a fashion designer and a seamstress for 28 years, was all I knew how to do best. I desperately tried to figure out what else can I do. At the moment, it seemed that I didn’t know how do anything else. It was really scary and stressful. Looking back, almost five years later, I know I shouldn’t have stressed as much as as I did. Right now I see so many opportunities ahead of me. I see how many different things I could start and become successful.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started my business about five years ago and at the beginning, I had no idea what I was doing. After watching numerous videos on internet about resin art, I thought, I’ll try. I started very small, because investing to much money was scary and I didn’t know if I’ll be able to sell it. What if nobody likes It? What if I fail? How will I sell it? Is it even art? So many questions going through your head. If I could go back and talk to myself at the beginning, I would say- just do it! Don’t worry about the process and details. Just do it! Enjoy doing it, people will see how much love you put in your art.
My goal was to make big art and now I’m making big geodes that look so realistic that people ask me- how do you cut those big rocks? I have to explain, that I make my geodes out of wood, resin, glass crystals and real crystals, and I enjoy doing it.
It’s important to find your niche, your recognizable style, so you you would be authentic. That feeling, when you look at your finished Art next morning, and thinking omg, this is beautiful, – is the best feeling. The second best feeling is if a customer says the same thing and buys your piece of art !

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m the wrong person to ask this question:) I love nature, so I always take my guests to Sedona and we either go on a hike or just visit one of the local restaurants. Botanical garden in Phoenix is also one of the must go places. We have so many friends visiting us over the years but most of the time they are like to stay on our property, enjoy the weather, pool and good barbecue.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I think my kids gave me the best support and encouragement. They say, mom, you are the strongest person we know , you can do it! I kept sending them pictures of my new art pieces as soon as I finish them. I know they got tired of it but they’re always say, it’s beautiful mom!
