We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicholas Pellegrino and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicholas, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process of starting my own security company was giving security new image. Knowing the threats out there, and living in todays society I was unable to enjoy family events or going out. I have worked in security for years and I know the quality of people some of these companies hire I didn’t feel any safer when I saw security.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
DRM strives to create a new image and standard for the security industry. We believe security is extremely important especially today. We are producing higher trained guards, more effective security and bringing integrity back into the industry. Im a true believer in investing in my employees, I wouldn’t be where I am today is it wasn’t for them. I was in their shoes and I want to make sure I can prevent the nonsense I have gone through. I feel developing leaders and training people will push DRM to the top in the security industry. If I expect my guards to preform at the highest levels then its my responsibility to provide them with the tools to do so and to do so safely and effectively. This journey has been one of the hardest things I have had to do. I started with a home office, then a 900 square foot space in a not so good area, then to a 3000 square foot training facility in less than a year. Even after all of the ups and downs the biggest lesson I learned was to stay humble, Im not the best, I don’t know everything and I will continued to learn, adapt and overcome to ensure I have have a company that can continue to take care of clients and give individual jobs. If I had to leave one thing with everyone to remember is this, not all security is created equal, look at the leadership to understand who your hiring.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife and family. They have been through it with me from the start. My wife held it down while we started and struggled. I was motivated to create something they could be proud to tell people about and I had plenty of negative people telling me it was too difficult to do, so naturally I had to prove them wrong.
