We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicholas Yale and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicholas, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Real estate has always had a low bar for entry, and quite frankly, once in, it doesn’t get better from there! So when the opportunity presented itself, we decided to open a real estate firm of truly full time, professional agents that are at the top of their game, really a brokerage of brokers, a group of peers.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
After 26 years of selling homes I certainly have a few stories to tell at a cocktail party. This business is not for the faint of heart. But it is also one of the few businesses that does not have a glass ceiling, nobody tells you how hard to work, when to work or when to take time off. That is a blessing and a curse. I focused my career on marketing homes professionally and smartly managing the transaction with system and processes. It allowed me to do more, quicker, smarter and more economically. That catapulted my career from selling 8-10 homes a year to 80-100 up until I opened Brokers Hub Realty in 2017. Since then, while my business has slowed, I have used my skillset and become the designated broker and mentor to some of the best agents in the business who needed help turning their lucrative hobby into a thriving business. One of the proudest things about my career is building the brokerage. It warms my heart to see agents grow and achieve financial success under the umbrella of what we have built here.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Phoenix is a hotbed of culture, art and dining….if you know where to look. Cocktails at the swanky Rough Rider, which is a hidden basement restaurant that is dedicated to Teddy Roosevelt themed food and drinks. Then a walk thru the Japanese Friendship Garden to explore the meticulously manicured landscaping, lake teaming with koi fish and enjoy the sunset. After, can jump on the light rail and head to mid-town to catch a play at the Art Museum or watch the ballet, which while that sounds boring, is really anything but! After we can head over to Durant’s steakhouse, where literally the Phoenix mob and politicians planned the city out and have their famous strawberry cheesecake and a bottle of wine to round the night out.

Alternatively, we could jump in the car and head to the Flagstaff area, about 2 hours away, and chill out at my cabin and bird watch, drink and watch the pine trees sway in the 60 degree cool brisk air.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My father was in real estate and begged me not to get into the business. I did it anyway, and when I sold my first $87,000 home he told me that was great, but focus more on a higher end cliental if I wanted to actually make any money. He also chastened me for still working at the Olive Garden and said there was no room in the industry for part time/non-focused agents. That set the bar for me to jump in feet first and try to be the best of the best.
