Meet Nicole Bennett | Event Professional and Mobile Venue Operator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Bennett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicole, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
I know that I am doing what I’m meant to do so giving up is not an option. With that in mind the only thing to do is problem solve to find ways to adapt and adjust as needed. When you are committed to being an entrepreneur that eliminates an escape plan – meaning your only choice is to be an entrepreneur. You have goals and plans and contingency plans and that may involve shifting products or services, sometimes scraping plans altogether and starting over, but it never involves quitting.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Perry Consulting LLC has been operating since 2001 ~ meeting/event planning and execution is our core service – this is what we do and why Perry Consulting exists. We are clear about who we are and therefore not trying to be all things to all clients (we’re not fundraisers, caterers, marketing specialists, etc.). That means we spend all our time being hyper focused on being flawless meeting and event professionals. So compared to our peers, we are uniquely positioned to put our time and talent to work for our clients! Our many years of experience and solid record of success have firmly established us as trusted professionals who understand the needs of our clients.
At Perry Consulting LLC, we believe in collaborative teamwork with our clients and truly look to build relationships with our clients that will evolve over the years. This explains our company’s high level of customer satisfaction and why the majority of our new clients are referrals from current clients.
During the pandemic I started Events That Move, a mobile open air event venue for micro-events. I knew that people would still want to host private events to celebrate milestones with family and loved ones. With venues shuttering, cost rising and people feeling more comfortable in small groups we thought this concept addressed all the issues.
Events That Move is a truly innovative idea ~ this mobile venue on wheels arrives at a location of the client’s choosing and literally opens for business with the side walls opening to reveal a U-shape venue on wheels. Patrons sit around the outside of the open-air venue on bar stools and receive first class service from the team at Perry Consulting. With Events That Move, we put all our expertise to work which allows for a hassle free, one call does it all experience for the customer. Events That Move allows the customer to remove all the hassle of having a party (the exhaustive task list that includes, calling multiple vendors, finding a location, menu planning, figuring out games/entertainment) and focus on entertaining their guests and actually enjoying their party!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well of course the first thing we would do is host a party with Events That Move in Papago Park! With plenty of first class spas and golf resorts in the area we would have to spend at least one day doing each of those. No trip to Arizona is complete without a day trip to the Grand Canyon with an overnight in Flagstaff. Another day trip to the top of the state to visit Antelope Canyon would also top the list!
Finally we would make stops at some of the countless amazing restaurants AZ has to offer but two that would be on the must list are the Salt Cellar and Taco Guild.
The trip would conclude with a visit to Mystery Castle – because what’s life without a little mystery!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My experience in the meeting/event planning field spans over three decades. I began my professional event planning career while working as a Program Specialist for Girl Scouts in 1995. But long before that I was learning the tricks of the trade (unbeknownst to me) alongside my mother who planned fundraising events in Los Angeles. My mom planned large fundraisers, comedy nights, 10K run/walk, community harvest festival and more – she did all this on a volunteer basis. So naturally since my Mom was volunteering the rest of the family did too so I spent the majority of my youth (Junior High and High School years) helping my Mom at events. I was so impressed at what she could produce I always thought my mom should open her own business. But my mom came from an era where you worked for the same company for 25 years, got your gold watch and retired. So, in 2001 I started Perry Consulting LLC inspired to show my mom what I learned from her.
My parents have been so supportive of me my entire life, coming to all my drill team competitions in Jr. HS and H.S.; carting me to extracurricular activities, making sure I went to college, coming to see my offices at each of my jobs and helping when those jobs had major projects that needed support (whether that meant time or money). Then of course when I started my business my parents were supportive and helped at events when I didn’t have staff yet then they would come to events to see my work in action. There is not a major milestone in my life that they weren’t there, a success they didn’t share in or a setback they didn’t pep talk me through. When I look back over my life my parents have always been on the sidelines cheering me on! When you aren’t an athlete in the public eye you don’t have a platform to thank your parents publicly for all they have done for you and meant in your life so I thank you for allowing me to give my parents (the best in the world) a shoutout for loving me and making me feel like I can do anything!
