Meet Nina Nikolic | Landscape Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nina Nikolic and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nina, why did you pursue a creative career?
From my high school years, I was involved in Landscape architecture. That continued even today, and during covid I got the opportunity to start working on what I love.
Design was always my thing. My first thing ever was playing The Sims, and I was little designer and builder from the start.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We are all different and are thriving different goals in our life so I cannot say exactly what is making me different. The only thing is that I know that I do my job out of love for creations, architecture and plants. I believe that every road is hard for anyone and being in business showed me that.
Couple of lessons that I learned along the way is never underestimate your worth and that it is okay to decline work that doesn’t feel good for your mental health.
I am a young soul trying to find my place in this world and just do what feels best. I am collaborating with some of the landscape companies, and I learned the business there. As a sole proprietor, I undertake all aspects of my business operations with a commitment to delivering the highest quality service.”
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I came to live in Belgrade 10 years ago as a student and fell in love with the people and the city itself, I would definitely show them all the historical parts of it and also introduce them to this concrete jungle as I like to call it. I would focus on architecture and urban design of the city and tell the stories of the evolution of town.
Also, Serbian cuisine is the best, so we wouldn’t skip that part either. Traditional Serbian cuisine is mistaken only if you are vegetarian since there is a bunch of meat involved. As for drinking parts, Serbian Rakija (fruit brandy) is the thing. A few shots are all it takes for you to feel significantly inebriated.
Outside of that, I am always up to some good camping spots and chilling in nature. We have majestic sites that you can visit and spend some quality time with.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to point out that my mother suggested that I go either with architecture or landscape architecture. Despite my initial lack of drawing skills, I’ve found a way to express my design aspirations through technology, allowing me to bring my creative visions to life.
