Meet Pierce Jeske

We had the good fortune of connecting with Pierce Jeske and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Pierce, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Initially, I wanted to begin DJing outside of my hometown (Chicago). I took advantage of the extra time offered during the COVID era and converted a 72 passenger school-bus into a moving club with a large stage built on top. From there my goal was to look for different event groups in need of proper staging/production. Things started with referrals of friends, but within about one year I started getting staging and DJ gigs throughout the Midwest all the way to Wyoming, and eventually Arizona.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been a music producer since I have been 14 years old and started DJing at age 18. As I started becoming more involved in the Chicago DJ scene, I realized how difficult it was for DJs to get gigs to express themselves how they like. I believe that has been one of the main factors that helped Top Secret gain attention on our journey. Allowing DJs to have their allotted time (unbothered), playing what they like and expressing themselves is something we focus on very much. Accomplishing this was not the easiest as there are always song requests and people suggesting different music. When we started in Arizona, our community consisted of about 8 people on the bus stage in the desert doing everything for one another to help each other shine. As we grew on social media our crowds started growing and we began doing more events in Phoenix, Tempe, and Scottsdale. Top Secret has always kept the main focus of music being an expression, and so most of our events nowadays I will find myself making sure the DJ can play in a crowded space unbothered. To see the progress from 8 people in the desert, to hundreds if not more people at our events today, I want anyone to know that if you stick with your passion… it can be done.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Depending on their age, I would take my friend to events at Sunbar on Mill avenue, or Walter Wherehouse in Phoenix. After the drinking and partying, I would bring them to the desert camping, djing, and off-roading.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are many people along the journey of Top Secret that deserve recognition, one of the most important being Jonathan Clark. Jonathan has been along my side since the day we purchased our school-bus stage and has helped provide hands on work renovating the vehicle along with capturing and editing awesome videos to post on social media. He does a lot of work in the Phoenix, Tempe area providing good rates on video shoots and editing.
