We had the good fortune of connecting with Poetess Love and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Poetess, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always been big on expressing myself, ever since I was young. I loved to sing, dance, & create any type of visual that I thought was aesthetically pleasing. I thought everything was beautiful and I wanted people to see what I saw. The art of creation & the process of it all is what brings me joy. I wasn’t sure at young age if I could make it a career but my positive optimism created visions in my mind that made everything make sense. All I had to do was take the steps.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is called

‘So Lovely Readings’.

It is a spiritual service that provides intuitive counsel using practices such as Tarot , Oracle, & Angelic guidance. A practice that has existed since the late 14th century, and that is also considered taboo.

Tarot readings provide a bridge of communication between the spiritual and physical world. There are many ways to connect with the universe and with Tarot cards, messages are translated through the messenger.

What sets me apart from other readers is my light and my energy. My roots are directly from West Africa. The Democratic Republic of the Congo to be exact. I am a Mother, I am a Nurse, and I am a creative. I understand the ebb & flows of life while incorporating set intentions & manifestations to achieve the life I desire. I create through artistic expression and teach all of the knowledge I acquire so that we can all grow as a collective of spiritual beings.

I am most proud of my own growth and resilience. When life tries to knock you down, get back up and go harder.

I’m excited about what is to come. I got to where I am by pushing through my own self limitations. Doing the work to heal myself and grow mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, has been the best decision I’ve ever made for my life. It definitely wasn’t easy. I overcame challenges by balancing life and everything else that comes with it. As a Libra, I understand the scales. Balance is never 50/50. It’s creating homeostasis or stability with what’s given to you. This is just one of the many lessons I’ve learned along the way.

I want the world to know that life is truly what you make it. My brand is an expression of my journey and my story is what I choose to share with anyone that can resonate or connect with it. Peace, Love, and Light.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A friend visiting for a week long trip:

Itinerary starts with breakfast at SNOOZE. I’m a foodie so get ready to eat good all week. Next we’ll sight see some of the hot spots: old town Scottsdale & downtown Phoenix to start. Crystal shops like Majestic Earth the Scottsdale fashion square for retail. We’d hit one of my favorite happy hour spots, The Windsor and chill for the rest of the evening.

Next day we’d probably do a hike. Something easy like A mountain in Tempe or Papago park. And then chill by the pool.

Wednesday nights are perfect for something live as the artists come back alive after a busy weekend prior. Poetic Soul in downtown Phoenix or an artist showcase at Crescent ballroom.

Thursday nights are great for more exploration. PHX art museum, more food like an amazing vegan spot such as Trash Panda vegan restaurant. Which is also right across town street from Tiger mountain garden where anyone can volunteer and learn about community gardens. And for the evening, we’d go to Butlers Easy where there is live music every Thursday night.

Friday night would be Westgate in Glendale. Outlet mall, restaurants and clubs all in one.

You can’t visit AZ with out experiencing some of the best travel spots. Sedona, known for its spiritual town, Jerome known for its haunted town, and the Grand Canyon. All this over a weekend trip.

My friend will be very pleased.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shout out IAmRoot Co. they are a creative writing collective that played a huge part in my growth as an artist. I was mentored and shown the different avenues creative writing can take. From a piece of paper to the stage, to even a published work. I was pushed out of my comfort zone with assigned writing prompts and artist showcases. I was inspired and motivated by the community of artists that occupy the city of Phoenix. Artists that are still thriving in the city today.

There are many platform holders in the community. IAmRoot Co., amongst many others have been consistent.

I would also like to Shout out VibeLane. Which is another collective of artists that took me under their wing when I transitioned from poetry to music. Each member has their own aesthetic and brings something fresh to the table. It was great to be a part of such a talented group of individuals.
